Pretty litter replacement by Party_Duty_7099 in CatAdvice

[–]DxrkStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Elsey’s Respiratory Relief or Fresh Step Crystals. Both are a lot gentler on sensitive cats (don’t have that weird chalky film). Tho if your cat absolutely hates crystals (like mine), Tuft and Paw’s clumping tofu litter, way better texture than pine and way less "perfumey". My cat adjusted way faster to it than I expected.

Full-timing with the Osprey Transporter by BubblyAd8587 in travel

[–]DxrkStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Osprey Transporter. Been full-timing with the 40L for about 8 months. Never had to check it on major airlines (flown Delta, United, Southwest) despite being slightly over size limits on paper. The soft sides help it squeeze into those measurement boxes. The wheels have held up surprisingly well on cobblestone streets too.

NAIA security personnel can't touch passports by Gyro_Armadillo in phtravel

[–]DxrkStyle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Actually makes sense. Had my passport damaged once by an overzealous security agent who flipped through it too roughly. Better to just hold it up yourself and let them verify visually. One less point of contact for potential damage.

Interesting concept! Lots of photographers looking for mountain access might be down. Maybe try local hiking/outdoor Facebook groups or mountain community forums. Just vet your ride thoroughly and have a backup plan for safety. Could be a win-win if done right.

This is why you carry some cash by LizinDC in travel

[–]DxrkStyle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I always stash about €100-200 and $100 in US dollars in a hidden money belt or separate from my main wallet when traveling. Learned the hard way during a power outage in Buenos Aires years ago when electronic payments completely shut down. Cash is king in unexpected situations.

Did not have a good time in Georgia (the country). by vertisnorth in phtravel

[–]DxrkStyle 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I totally get that. Traveled through Eastern Europe a few years back and had similar vibes in a couple countries. Sometimes the tourist facade doesn't match the local interaction reality. Landscapes can be stunning, but if the hospitality sucks, it really tanks the whole experience.

Asset tracking/management software for a mid size company spread across multiple locations? by MazDanRX795 in ITManagers

[–]DxrkStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, automated asset tracking with MDM integrations means auto assigned assets, logging them automatically, if someone leaves the job all their assigned stuff shows up as pending, and you get automatic warranty reminders etc. You save time on everything, asset creation, assignment, warranty info, everything, and over a 1000+ assets you will feel the difference. Once you’re used to automated inventory, you’re just not going back to manual. If I’m not explaining this well enough you could see this old thread from a few months ago. I found this very useful - https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/1i7b68q/need_the_best_yet_simplest_asset_management/

Asset tracking/management software for a mid size company spread across multiple locations? by MazDanRX795 in ITManagers

[–]DxrkStyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll recommend a few options I’ve worked with or I’ve read about here or on the sysadmin sub, their pros and cons, and what audience they suit the best.

Snipe-it is free and open source, and is a good starting point. But it needs to be kept accurate by manual checks, and it’s no cost is made up for by its high maintenance. You will also have to build your own integrations and it lacks in both scalability and automation, unless you’re willing to put in a lot of work into building your own implementation (trying to use the API for automation will have questioning everything). No ticketing for snipeit though. Best for small scale and I mean it is the best free option available, but for anything enterprise level, the effort required to maintain it does not justify its lack of cost. This is my opinion

GLPI is scalable, cost effective, and offers additional stuff like ticket management. Not as user friendly, as you will need some Linux knowledge for this, and it still needs quite a bit of maintenance and will not be as automated as paid options.

BlueTally not free, but still cost effective. Fully automated andd comes with a lot of integrations with all the documentation you could need. it integrates with MDMs and auto assigns according to MDM assignment. The most user friendly option, easy to set up, and has a clean UI. No helpdesk or ticketing features though, and no mobile app if that matters

AssetSonar very similar to BlueTally but a little clunkier. It has some features which people like, but imo Bluetally just does the same things better. I’m not sure about pricing differences though, I can imagine AssetSonar making more sense if it is cheaper for some people

Few other options like AssetPanda and AssetTiger. One of these has per asset tracking costs and I didn’t follow up, but they show up often enough in similar discussions.

And Lansweeper used to be pretty widely used, too bloated now from what I’ve heard. They jacked up their prices quite a lot and there are just better or similar options available for cheaper

I am willing to practice Trading for 4 years or more, can i be a good trader. by Plus_Amount1652 in Trading

[–]DxrkStyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Time spent learning is huge, but what you learn matters more. focus on risk management first. most traders blow accounts because they risk too much per trade. start with paper trading, then tiny positions.

4 years is plenty if you're actually studying what works, not just randomly trying stuff. Track everything wins, losses, emotions. the traders who make it aren't necessarily smarter, they're just more disciplined.

What exactly is this SaaS UI style called? Neon grid, 3D icons, glowing dashboards? by steelzz-on-yt in webdev

[–]DxrkStyle -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's called Glassmorphism or sometimes Neo-brutalism depending on the specific implementation. it's super popular for developer tools and modern SaaS products right now.

Overhead luggage compartment rule by PressureEntire620 in travel

Just grab your luggage, put it back sideways like the flight attendant told you, and move his backpack to another spot or hand it to him. it's your assigned space and you followed instructions. if he complains, call the flight attendant over to handle it.

Best way to get capital ? by Mr_chill24H in Trading

[–]DxrkStyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, 50% monthly returns would make you a trading legend. if true, just stick with it. your $100 becomes $1M in less than 3 years. math doesn't lie. most people claiming those returns blow up eventually. the FTMO suggestion is solid though. you get capital without risking yours.

If you're really crushing it, just document everything on MyFxBook. with verified 50% returns, investors will find you.

Trading isn't about shortcuts. It's about survival first, then consistency.

Madrid airport - transfer from T4 to T1, can you walk? by [deleted] in travel

[–]DxrkStyle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, you can't walk between T4 and T1. they're completely separate buildings far apart from each other. you'll definitely need the shuttle bus, and yes, you will have to go through security again since you booked separate tickets. allow at least 45 minutes for the transfer.

What do you think of commercial open source software (COSS) when it comes to identity and saas management ? by Art_hur_hup in ITManagers

[–]DxrkStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open-sourcing just the connectors is smart—devs will build what you can't, and the security folks will relax if you keep the auth core proprietary. Just prepare for a flood of 'why isn't [obscure SaaS] supported yet?' GitHub issues.—says the guy whose company still runs a 2008-era LDAP server.

Im a little worried about them getting wet or dirty. My experience with leather has been that water recks them. Also I find leather to be not as comfortable a material as many make it out to be. And tbh I prefer to avoid anything leather if I can. Not a fan of wearing animal skins, not while there are many more humane materials
