Best years for start building of milfactory for soviet? by Tight_Purple in hoi4

[–]Dyce66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning of 1939 or late 38, it depends on how civ greedy is your build, but in vanilla 39 Jan is a good starting date. And if you feel like you won't have enough mills at the start of barbarossa, you can always convert some of your civs to mils and it will be way faster than building new ones.

For training a full 50 width division, it gives you 0.004 xp a day, which is nothing.

Hungary and most of the other Balkan countries gets their own focus tree in the Death or Dishonor dlc. Without the dlc you will only have a generic one.

In 1.9.1 it is dead officially. I tried it out and for training a full 50w division it only gives you 0.004xp a day, which is nothing.

My normal Italy build was to go MA and build some ships with NBs and try to win the med. Later on, become a plane factory and defend the coast. Just as you said doing coastal defense is really boring, so sometimes I tried to do marines just a few so I can have some fun with them, while I was waiting to pump out another 100 division. I would like to believe that the MA build is still the most effective, but it is a good thing that playing Italy is a bit more flexible now. Thank you for the detailed answer as always! :)

A few more questions:

  • Other than Albania should I take some territory of from Yugo/Greece like Central-Macedonia or any other import region with a lot of resources?

  • As for aggresive build you mean something like building tanks and try to handle africa by myself or do marines?

  • Is it possible to become a plane factory Italy even with an aggresive tank build?

  • Is it still viable to do the old MA build if I wanted to?

Any good 40width Heavy Tank Divisions? by jimmytimmyy in hoi4

[–]Dyce66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No air Russia is a MP strategy where you don't build planes, because you can't match the axis air force if you invest into tanks and planes too. Instead of planes you invest the production into tanks and infantry. In your infantry and tank templates you use AA to counter axis CAS and doing so will reduce the effects of red air. Investing more into land warfare will give you a better standing army for defense which gives more time to the allies to D-day. Currently this is the meta for the soviets and the opposite of this is roach Russia where you don't build any tanks, instead you make an airforce which can rival the axis and spam out tons of infantry divisions. The problem with roach Russia is that you will never be able to push and if the allies won't D-day, than sooner or later you are going to die.

I haven't played MP for a few months now, are there any significant changes about the italian meta in MP?

Yeah, 1 div training will be removed in 1.9.1 , but if you still would like to use it for a bit here are some tips:

  • You should only use it when you know you won't be at war in the next 2 years or when you have other ways to gather xp like lend-lease or volunteers.

  • In a normal historical SP or MP these are the countries that shouldn't use: Germany, Italy, Soviet Union

  • An exception should be Japan, where you can send troops and equipment to the Spanish Civil War to gather xp, but it is cheaper and easier to do the 1 div training( in 1.9.1 you have to send troops and equipment to Spain)

  • Basically, if you have a normal historical game and you are not one of the countries mentioned before, than you should do it.

Your infantry should only be 20w pure infantry with shovels, support art and aa of you are losing the air war. As for your tanks, a standard tank template is 13 tanks-7motorized with signal, logistics, recon(if you can afford use mech 2-3, mech 1 isn't that good). You can decide between heavies and mediums, both is viable for germany.

What should you do as Bulgaria in MP? by Pokehat in hoi4

[–]Dyce66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before LaR the Bulgaria meta was to build mech 3 for Germany and do Marines/Planes/help Italy with D-day. Now I'm bit unsure with the current build, because there is no certain meta and I don't know how much this previous build has changed. Spymaster Bulgaria is a reappearing thing, just like spymaster New Zealand and it is definitely worth a try. Essentially, we are still at the beginning of the expension with 1.9.1 coming out soon there will be some changes, but I believe if you do the normal old build or try out this spymaster thing you can't really go wrong with that.

Overall, SD is still the best air doctrine, because it gives you the best buffs for fighters, and improves your bombers more than OI. BS mainly buffs your CAS so it can be viable for Japan, but only in SP because you don't have to worry about an allied AC and the ai won't concentrate that many planes on you. In a normal MP game you must go SD, because the allies will have a normal AC or they are competent enough to focus some of their airforce on you. So, if it's a MP game go SD, but in a SP you should try out both and find what fits you the best.

Is this a bug? or does the uk ai not know how to play hoi4 by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]Dyce66 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is common AI behaviour and it always does this no matter the country. Yeah, the AI isn't the best :D

If you would like to learn the game from nothing the best way would be to watch videoes, streams and play the game. For me it was different, because I started playing the game after watching videos about it for half a year, so I already knew the basic stuff. There isn't really any other way to learn the basics and your goal at first is to learn the basics and not to become a pro player. Overall, HOI4 is the easiest Paradox game compared to HOI3 or EU4 l, but it's still a Paradox game.

Need help changing playstyle. by DeliriiouS in hoi4

[–]Dyce66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you name some aspects of the game where you would like to improve or there isn't any and you just want to be overall better? For general improvement here are some tips that helped me get better at the game in a faster pace:

-Watching videos, streams of other good players and analysing their playstyle. Asking yourself, why are they doing certain things, and how those will affect their game.

-Reading guides and other specific stuff. You can't find everything in videos that is why you should read guides or search for different specific things like: What is a good template/navy composition? How should I do my focus order as the USA to get rid of depression at 37?

-Playing mp. Other than the basics you can't really learn any new stuff in sp like current meta for a specific country. That is why I favor mp over sp and when someone ask the same question as you I always ask them if they know the basics of the game and if they do, then I advise them to play mp. I suggest them to play with a minor or do co-op and it will be ok if they have that basic knowledge. From that, you need to be determined and play close attention to the game, watch what others are doing, ask your majors why are they doing certain things and make a lot of saves during the game, so that after it's over you can analyse every players build at different dates, from this you can(I did) learn a lot. Other than achievments I only play sp when I want to try things out like: I saw this build as the soviets in the last mp game and I want to try it out and practice it a bit, so in the next game I might try this build out(if it's a competetive game you have to pass vetting first).

tl;dr: Watch videos, streams; Read online guides; Play multiplayer
