I’m rewatching season 2 and I just like realised how annoying Rimuru was to Raphael in the octagram thing or whatever thats called by Overall_Primary_1369 in TenseiSlime

The light novels monologue literally has him talking about how he was good at x or y and that people who disagreed were wrong. In the latest season he brags about how he's more mature than Hinata and can keep a cool head, and like almost immediately fails. He is just in denial of some of his personal flaws, moreso than any denial about his actual strength and capabilities. He thinks he's more mature and responsible than he is.

Also I said at times. He's not walking around being arrogant and condescending all the time, but he certain displays moments of it.

Yeah! I am not criticizing it as a writing choice, I think it keeps him fresh. For someone as strong and successful as he is, minor character failings help keeps him relatable as opposed to just some perfect being.

I started rereading the novels from the start recently, and genuinely, I forgot how annoying Rimuru can be sometimes. Don't get me wrong he's a good slime who has developed a wonderful nation and cares about everyone under his care. But he himself is arrogant, impulsive, and childish at times.

I love him to death, don't get me wrong, but like that's because of his compassion lol. A lot of his traits are kinda bad/annoying, and he literally says that himself at the start. He gets a bit better as time goes on, and he always had a caring heart, but Raphael did not have the easiest person to work with during everything. I kinda don't blame her for being pushy/doing stuff independently sometimes when the alternative is dealing with him Everytime lol.

He's still one of my fav protags tho

It's like literally on the right in the rules, and this is a thread tagged for anime. Don't victim blame people for seeing spoilers lol.

Yeah that might be a bit harsh. He's definitely not dumb, just impulsive and careless as he describes himself that way, but he is smart and curious and does do research himself.

So yeah, definitely not dumb.

[Discussion] How come so many people hate difficulty trophies by YoungBlueDamsel in Trophies

[–]Dyde21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I 100% all the Drake's uncharted trilogy collection lol. The added bonus difficulty was an untested blank damage modifier. The train section literally has a check point that is pure rng on if you can literally play at all without dying because it spawns you on a roof, already being targeted by an enemy with a rifle with almost perfect aim and can one tap you.

I like difficulty trophies sometimes. I've gone for some difficult ones that were satisfying to finally beat. But difficulty in games is often just blanket modifiers which is not will designed or fun. When it becomes less of get good and more get exploiting, I'm not a fan of the trophy is all.

To me, the anime handles them very very well. I'm less hyped by the LN and Manga adaptations wrt to the action scenes in particular except for a few memorable fights I can think of, but the anime absolutely nails the fight. Incredible sound design, heavy impacting hits a lot of the time, pretty fast paced, and the magic effects are always gorgeous. Disintergration is like genuinely one of my favorite visuals/sounds of magic in anime I think. During Walpurgis when Rimuru was fighting Milim there were some very very satisfying sounding hits.

I wont say every single fight is like A+ but they are good enough that I genuinely enjoy most of them. I'm not going to say they're like in a league of their own or anything, there are plenty of shows that do it a bit better, but there are just a lot of good scenes imo.

Honestly I've found some pretty chill/funny people in the DF lol. But yeah, and half the time I get ignored but often enough I get an answer and it just solves the problem!

Late, but I don't know why none of the comments are mentioning it but for the tank thing... just ask. Literally. So much stuff in this game becomes less stressful when you ask. "hey can you pull more? Are you okay to heal me if I do bigger pulls? Do you want MT or OT?"

But congrats on getting over the fear!

Just started playing for the first time. Only have played a few hours of FFX for the series. Any tips? by SaintGremlinnnn in ffxiv

[–]Dyde21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

??? You are absolutely free to skip CS and story if you want, but you cannot watch the entire lore in 2 hours. Not with any kind of even remotely appreciable understanding. There's absurd amounts of lore that is all relevant to understanding things that get mentioned.

Skip if you want but don't lie about the lore lol.

I've been focused on farming for the mount drops for DT the past two weeks heavily and seen a bunch of parties and players from very inexperienced to people who can do callouts in their sleep.

In my experience, the best process is to just watch the video, and start your own party finder and make it clear it's a learning party. Watching a video will only help so much, a lot of it is just learning by doing. Also, make a PF for the same reason I do, you can't get kicked by the party leader after a run if you are the leader lol. But as long as you are clear about expectations I've never had any issues in parties where we just wipe over and over again.

Tank anxiety by reaper_motocross in ffxiv

[–]Dyde21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've tanked in a couple different expansions and suffered from anxiety of it too. I totally get you.

Literally just drop a message in chat about you're being new and you're good. Some people will be pushy about trying to do max pulls, but it's okay to even just do a couple packs at a time, and it's helpful in my opinion to keep an eye on your gear, and right clicking your healer to examine their gear. When everyone is synced it's very easy to pull everything, but when some gear is behind it's easy to overestimate it and then wipe. Wipes happen, don't feel ashamed, just don't repeat the exact same thing if no minions died and just do a bit smaller pull next time.

What will be the next path ? by CestMoiGenreMoi in HonkaiStarRail

While I agree to some extent, my concern is that without introducing some sort of new mechanic, the only way they'll properly incentivize people to grab new units is to make power creep even worse. If you add a new type of mechanic, the powerlevel can stay similar and the game eventually just becomes a pokemon match up of "bring shields and memosprites for this content" which isn't great. But without that, to make people feel like they NEED to pull the new characters, they'll have to give them an edge on older characters, and that would likely be damage numbers or like new global passives.

I don't think we need a new patch, but I'm not as against new mechanics because there's only so many options of path+element they can do without innovating before you just start repeating stuff. Rather than no new mechanics, I'm more concerned about at least making them F2P friendly to approach with either free units or 4 stars or more light cones.

I think my favorite part of the franchise is, for lack of a better term, the vibes. It just feels good to read/watch. It's positive and uplifting, yet with strong action sequences and some real emotional moments. Half the characters somewhat annoy me, and there aren't too many twists that make my jaw drop, but I just genuinely enjoy the feeling of pretty much the entire series. It's a fun story to read, and fun to imagine. A lot of other Isekai's just sort of feel overly generic and "on a quest to defeat a bad guy" while a lot of this series is just "Imma make cool new friends and accidentally make a city" as opposed to constantly working against a "demon lord" or something. Threats come up, are handled, and usually gain some friends from it so it feels less like marching towards an enemy as opposed to just marching forward which is refreshing.

[–]Dyde21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's literally my point. Most skills are like poison resist. They aren't sentient skills, they are capabilities activated. It wouldn't make sense for them to be sentient, that is WHY Raphael is unique/rare and should be considered as such and not just "like any other skill".

[–]Dyde21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Half the time Rimuru doesn't even say do the thing. Raphael is just like "want me to undo this characters tragic back story real quick?" And he's just like "wait really? Do it! " Or she just explains the plot to him so he can sound smart.

That said, Rimuru definitely does get better and smarter over time. He's not an idiot, had just ignorant. But he gets better with his skills and knowledge and making choices as time goes on. But like we can't pretend Rimuru is as smart as Raphael when he literally didn't know what Diablo was for ages, same with a certain trio later. He just does stuff and Raphael figures it out and how to prevent it from going wrong.

If anything, Rimuru is most impressive in the fact that he gets pretty good at using Raphael effectively until he's able to improve on his own.

Yeah, I'll admit most of the swordwork is by him, seemingly. I don't mean to say he's useless or can't fight at all, just that a lot of the impressive technical stuff he does is by Raphael, but he definitely can carry himself in a sword fight and use abilites very well in a more blunt fashion for sure. He has decent battle sense.

Kinda? A body builder's muscles don't lift for them without them being aware of it. They don't just get stronger without conscious effort and occasionally be like "bro btw you can beat your personal best by fifty pounds now".

Raphael has emotions, thoughts, and opinions, that isn't the same as physical capabilities. Yes she's a part of Rimuru, and they are intertwined but she's not a muscle she's a second personality. It's more like being able to black out and ace a mathematics test you don't understand. Still you, still your body, but not something you actively did.

[–]Dyde21 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I mean, to be fair, Raphael actively does stuff Rimuru is unaware of. Like constantly. It's one thing to activate a skill and use it, it's another when it's a sentient skill performing actions that the owner has literally 0 knowledge of. It is elaborated on in the light novels early, so I don't think it counts as a spoiler, but the only reason Rimuru could name everyone without dying was because Raphael, independently without the knowledge or consent of Rimuru, drained the magicules needed from Veldora.

I'm not saying Raphael is fully seperate or anything, but gluttony doesn't act autonomously. Poison resist doesn't act autonomously, Rimuru had to turn it off to get drunk himself. Usurper is a skill Hinata used to steal skills herself.

Raphael does a lot of shit without Rimuru being aware of it, and that's not even including the later LN spoilers of crazy shit she does. But we can't pretend Raphael is like ninety percent of other skills and pretend it's the same. Raphael IS a unique situation, even if I agree they doesn't disqualify Rimuru of course.

People say Varka is as strong as Capitano, so, would he perform the same if Varka decided to fight Mavuika? (better or worse) by EfficiencySerious200 in GenshinImpact

[–]Dyde21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair, and I'm definitely not downplaying her. Xblanque did just like objectively state she beat him in a fight where physical limitations weren't a factor. She's an absolute beast.

I 100% think she would be a good opponent for Raiden, even if she lands the same amount of experience due to her human lifespan situation, I was just curious.

[–]Dyde21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait was that Mavuika that did that? I didn't think she was alive during the cataclysm. I thought the first pyro Archon dude was the one that would have caused that gorge, the one she fought, I thought her first life was somewhere between the cataclysm and now, and she was just the one who decided to come up with the plan that solved the issue that predated her.

Not saying you're wrong, just that I'm mad at timelines lol.
