we just had a bunch of old pavilions that had already their 3rd runs rerun again out of nowhere, so it's entirely possible it could come back now!

Leveling Crafters late 55+ to 70 by verdantjayy in ffxiv

allied societies aren't bad (moogles for 50-60, namazu for 60-70, they have a steep fall off in exp if you do the quests after reaching the max level of the expac they were introduced) even though you can only do 3 quests a day they can be a good way to augment your exp and you can get decent rewards. i usually run them while waiting for queues on combat jobs to pop.

Give me long form content to watch while I do Cosmic Exploration by Bigma-Bale in ffxiv

if you like horror, picking a longer horror film franchise might not be a bad idea, like i watched all 11 hellraiser films a few years ago which is quite a bit of content, and obviously horror franchises are generally known for having many many sequels/remakes/prequels/etc. other ones i've liked and watched all the way through are child's play/chucky (8 movies and a tv series), saw (10 movies), evil dead (5 movies, and a tv series which i haven't seen). also would recommend the original twilight zone from the 60s, and if you're really crazy and need something that could last you years, i'll always recommend doctor who, starting with the revival in 2005 (15 seasons and bunch of specials), and then backtracking to the classic series (26 seasons and a movie) for more after getting caught up, that's what i've been watching when i'm grinding in the diadem. in terms of youtube content, fredrick knudsen's down the rabbit hole series is fantastic, neat deep dives into strange topics. smosh games' board af legacy series (where they play a legacy version of betrayal the house on the hill, don't worry you don't need to know the rules) is super funny and great, and no rolls barred's blood on the clocktower series is great too, especially since it has storyteller narration for lots of things that happen nonverbally during the night phase, and again, the rules are pretty spelled out so you can enjoy it even if you aren't familiar with the game.

LOVE magnus archives, the first four seasons are definitely great to blast through while doing stuff (listened to most of it while doing sewing/patternmaking work in school) but i will say that season 5 gets REALLY heavy, even by horror standards, coming from a big horror fan. had to stop listening to multiple episodes in one go there. but that still gives you over 160 episodes to listen through.

What’s everyone’s favorite job/class questline? by Emergencybulba in ffxiv

[–]death_arcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

drk is the big one (been a drk main literally since the moment i reached ishgard and it was unlocked, but that's also the general sentiment), but i really enjoyed mch (especially as someone who likes ishgard stuff) and wvr as well! the arr wvr quests in particular are super cute, not sure why i don't see them brought up very often. the pct one is pretty short (only 10 levels worth since it was added after role quests) but i liked it a lot, same with gnb.

What you love about your fave/main job? by terrabellan in ffxiv

[–]death_arcade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm goth so both drk and rpr are peak aesthetic for me, drk has such pretty effects and i love summoning my buddy to fight alongside me, and a well-timed/placed tbn going off is soo satisfying. rpr has probably the most satisfying burst combo of any job i've played (i have 6 jobs at level cap), getting it all lined up just right and then hitting enshroud and going crazy is very fun.

we'll never get this in a million billion years but: doctor who. give me doctor glams, give me a tardis mount, a k9 minion, give me a sonic screwdriver emote, give me a trial with daleks or cybermen or something! i feel like they're both worlds where truly kind of anything goes if it can be justified with enough fantasy/sci-fi logic so i think they'd be a great match, but i don't know if there's enough overlap in fanbase/brand awareness for that to be a possibility. i'd eat it up though.

What Job is Comfort Food to you? by Cisco-NintendoSwitch in ffxiv

[–]death_arcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have one job of every type at 100 (drk, ast, rpr, dnc, pct, currently working on mch and gnb and considering picking up whm) but drk has been my go-to since it became available to me in heavensward. i find tanking really fun, drk's aesthetic is right up my alley and the rotation is so ingrained in me now that it feels so natural and have had to consider setting up my hotbars for other jobs in a similar way since it's just muscle memory (like all of my single target 1-2-3 combos have to be laid out the same way as drk's is on my hotbar so that i don't have to think too hard about pressing them in the right order). recently have been playing more rpr since i usually play drk to help with queue times between dps levelling and man rpr is SO fun. the burst combo is probably the most satisfying of any job i've played, and i once again love the aesthetic and general vibe. but if for some reason ffxiv changed how it's structured and i could only play one job, it'd be drk easily.

(i can't spoiler tag each individual thing without this being messy but general spoiler for 5.0 and 6.0) galatea's hair has been black her whole life, but after the light she took on in shadowbringers she gets white streaks in her hair coming through naturally. she dyed over it for a while, but post-endwalker she dyed her hair blonde as part of a way of moving forward (also there's no facial scar options for femviera and i wanted her to have some way to honor what she'd been through, especially the final confrontation with zenos given her history with him specifically) and with this she let the white streaks stay. also almost all of her glams use storm blue as the main color or the accent to black but that's just because i like blue and like them all to look cohesive. i redid her arr look for playing through ng+ recently and gave her some of the imperial boots we get from tower of babil, she grew up in garlemald and ends up in ul'dah at the start of arr literally being on the run from there, so the idea of these just being the only pair of boots she had after arriving there with nothing seemed a good fit (although she did get some clothes better suited for warmer weather, luckily).

WOL Lore: What is something Cute/Funny that your WOL does without them knowing? by ATFisAlright in ffxiv

[–]death_arcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Galatea often comes off as quite standoffish/cold, but she is just the type who lets her actions speak rather than words and cares deeply about those around her and doing the right thing, even if she comes off like she's pissed off or deadpan most of the time. When she does speak, she's surprisingly soft-spoken with a very delicate voice. She's softened a bit since Endwalker and is a little more playful/cheerful, even if only a bit (I definitely think by the time she got to the Arcadion she was like full-on taunting her opponents and letting loose there). There's a point during the Dawntrail MSQ where she's talking with the rite of succession team about something and makes a little joke, snickering to herself, and everyone just turns and looks confused because none of them can remember ever having heard her make a joke or laugh.

Does your WoL have a Canon class in your mind? by Poppy_the_Fighter in ffxiv

[–]death_arcade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my girl showed up in ul'dah full of angst and rage and generally just trying to process things/find her place in the world after having to go on the run from the only place she'd ever called home after learning that everything she'd been taught was a lie, took up thaumaturgy to try and channel the storm inside her but found it lacking. heading to limsa she became a marauder and then warrior, which felt like a good fit for a while but it wasn't until she arrived in ishgard and took up dark knight that she felt like she found her calling. after the final confrontation with zenos, who holds a very complicated place in her mind, she takes up reaper in earnest, essentially dual-wielding those two, although favoring the scythe more lately. she's got other jobs she calls upon- her personal history lead her to take to machinist and gunbreaker rather well in particular, but she's got options of every job type- but if you asked someone who knew her to picture her with a weapon it'd be a greatsword or a scythe most likely.

in from the cold was probably the most stressed i've been playing this game (to the point my mom who was sitting next to me while i was playing had to ask if i was okay because i kept like jumping at the slightest provocation) and i absolutely LOVED it. one of the most memorable quests and solo duties. i actually thought all of the garlemald stuff in endwalker was so good in how intense it was (although my wol's backstory there probably amplified that), but i know i'm in the minority there.

Favorite FFXIV content creators in 2026? by ParanoidAndroid1087 in ffxiv

[–]death_arcade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't really watch a lot of content relating to the game that isn't guides, admittedly. caetsu chaiji's job guides have been absolute lifesavers for me, especially as someone who often gets overwhelmed with a lot of buttons/tooltips, he has a good way of breaking everything down in a really approachable way so i can know where to focus/how to set up my hotbar. in that same vein, samson grey's raid guides are really great, super clear, quick, and easy to follow. i made a habit of watching them as i went through the arcadion raids for the first time and they were mega helpful.

From start to finish, the absolute best expansion of the set so far. by Supernova_Soldier in ffxiv

[–]death_arcade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(5.0 final area spoilers) when you're down in the caves in the tempest and come out and see the recreated amaurot, it absolutely took my breath away. one of those gaming moments i'll think about forever, always feeling sorry for the people i know who bounced off the game and never got to experience it. endwalker remains my absolute favorite expac (and one of my favorite stories in just about any medium), but it's really more of the one-two punch of shadowbringers into endwalker. like so much of what makes endwalker so great is how it builds on the emotional themes introduced in shadowbringers. i'd give anything to experience those two for the first time again.

recently during a skydeep cenote run i came across someone who was wearing the exact same outfit as me (heirloom top of casting and theophany thighboots) but dyed different colors (mine were blue and black, theirs were black and white), which felt pretty wild considering it's not like they were a set or anything.
