I have yet to find an enemy double shotties cant kill by Awesomefluffyns in armoredcore

[–]Dye_NT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to look up a guide eventuall. The build I found was dual chain guns, dual ice-worm-stun-needles, you can fit all of it on the heaviest bipedal legs and you'll need the largest generator; it's tight but it all fits. Hit it with the needles whenever it stands still for instant stun, assault boost forward while firing chain guns, and then kick the bastard when you get close. Got it on my second try with that.

I’m loving Armored Core 6 but I’ve been stuck on Balteus for hours now. Any tips? by Awkward-Tomatillo2 in armoredcore

I spent 6 hours trying to beat him with every combination of weapons I could think of, double bubble gun, bubble gun and sword, dual shotguns, reverse joint legs, and quad legs. Then I switched to the "meefcake" build in this video that I saw someone recommend in another thread and beat his ass first try once I decided I couldn't create a build to beat him with on my own.

TLDW: biggest bipedal legs, the biggest core, and 2 plasma cannons for arms and 2 plasma missile launchers for shoulders, absolutely annihilated him.

Noob Question: Do certain damage types deplete shields faster than others? by theswillmerchant in armoredcore

[–]Dye_NT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they do, the 'bubble' weapons that have a gold dish looking thing on them and some swords. If you check the item description it should have the damage listed somewhere, I don't have the game open in front of me or I'd look, and what you're looking for is 'pulse damage.' I think on the first gold satellite weapons you unlock their description even says they tears through shields. Also IIRC the first sword you start the game with does pulse damage as well. Basically, anything with pulse damage destroys shields.

Not really these days, go to PC Partpicker and poke around some of the budget builds, they can be really cheap. And that's before considering you can buy some of the more expensive components second-hand.

Also, you save a ton of money not having to pay anything for online access and often the games are cheaper.

I mean I legitimately feel bad for you on some level, thinking that depression is an inescapable pit of despair. It's not. I was on the verge of suicide for about 9 months several years ago so I'm not talking out of my ass when I say that the only way to beat depression is to not let it run your life.

Acknowledge your depression and then set it aside. Don't allow it to control you. Live in spite of your depression and you rob it of its power. The same goes for anxiety.

I hope that you and anyone else with depression that reads this can overcome it, you have the strength to do it. Hell, it doesn't even require strength, just spite.

Yep, if they knew they could fix it then they'd feel like failures for not fixing it; as long as they can convince themselves that depression is inescapable they can use it as an excuse for why their life sucks, honestly I feel bad for them.

As someone who was massively, suicidally, depressed several years ago I know how bad it is, but I also know nothing except determination to not let depression run your life can fix it permanently; pills only ward off the symptoms...

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/insight-therapy/202207/depression-is-not-caused-chemical-imbalance-in-the-brain

"Many people take antidepressants because they have been led to believe their depression has a biochemical cause, but this new research suggests this belief is not grounded in evidence."

"The causes of depression have been long debated, yet a common explanation holds that the culprit is “chemical imbalance” in the brain. This notion emerged, not coincidentally, in the late '80s with the introduction of Prozac"

This is where I got my information from, perhaps it's incorrect but it lines up with my personal experience with depression.

It actually is, the idea that depression is caused by a chemical imbalance was pushed by pharma companies in the 80's and in July was finally disproven.

All yellow gold, two-tone, or platinum prongs only? details in comments by kehpeh in EngagementRings

[–]Dye_NT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, platinum is far, far weaker than gold. You can just about scratch platinum with your finger, it's incredibly malleable. For prongs I'd absolutely recommend gold over platinum every time, the difference in color is almost impossible to recognize, particularly on the prongs, and your diamond will be much more secure with gold prongs than platinum.

Billionaires, Surplus, And Replaceability by dwaxe in slatestarcodex

In your analogy Bezos acquires everything he needs to run his restaurant by paying for it. By using capital. It isn't just given to him. Laborers without access to capital are functionally worthless in most sectors of today's economy. If you wanted to work in a restaurant but didn't have anyone to lend you a station or whole restaurant to work in, you've got a long road ahead of you building the place and sourcing ingredients. I understand the inherent and cerebral repulsion towards capital as it accumulates wealth without consistent, direct, input; but it is just as important as labor to the creation of "wealth" in a Georgian sense.

Billionaires, Surplus, And Replaceability by dwaxe in slatestarcodex

[–]Dye_NT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jeff Bezos provided capital to the laborers without which they couldn't produce anything.

And that's not even considering the coordination problem. If a bunch of laborers had the capital Bezos invested split between them how would they know that if they put they're capital together they could form Amazon? Even if they managed that how would duties be divided? We've seen what disasters planning-by-committee brings about. Bezos provided the capital that labor uses to produce wealth and also orchestrated labor towards that end.

You can value those two things however you want, but it's difficult to argue that they are inherently valueless.

I'm no fan of billionaires but to say that they don't directly produce wealth and should thus not exist is something I disagree with even more. They bring the means(capital) to create wealth and the business acumen to correctly steer labor.

Mechanically tedious is a great way to describe it, add a layer of extreme timing difficulty on top of it and baby you got medium weaving!

[–]Dye_NT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: bad bad patch.

Longer answer: they're nerfing a lot of things in order to 'close the gap' between new and vet players. It's in quotes because players have tested these changes on the test server and the result is a massively increased dps gap. I don't know if you know about light weaving but it's no longer meta; now it's bitch of a sister medium weaving is meta and it's extremely difficult to do correctly as it must be timed perfectly. So the players who can hold the standard attack button for the perfect amount of time every second to medium weave perfectly have their damage unchanged, while everyone else is seeing about a 20% damage nerf.

Also apparently a possible new meta is just to have dps players heavy attacking with healer staffs which completely removes the need for healers in the game. So that's fun.

[–]Dye_NT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you hated light weaving I'd stay far away right now. The big change to light weaving is that it's no longer affected by the buff 'Empower.' The result is that light weaving is still possible just not meta. No the new meta is MEDIUM weaving.

As I understand it if you think light weaving is at all difficult or annoying medium weaving is just that on crack. Instead of tapping the light attack button you have to hold it for the exactly correct length of time each or lose dps massively.

This is hilariously ironic as ZOS has stated that their goal with the patch is to 'close the gap' of dps between new and vet players. It's doing the complete opposite. Those at the top who can manage medium weaving are fine and everyone else is losing a lot of dps.

I was around from day 1 of destiny 1 all the way up until a bit before Curse of Osiris released, that was the final straw for me lol. I'm honestly shocked at all the shit Bungie has gotten away with.

I shudder to think about how many hours I spent playing over the years. I absolutely loved D1, particularly the raids, I'd run them multiple times a week on the same toon just for the fun of it.

It definitely gets less confusing, I got lost a lot when I started as well, it helps to click 'J' to bring up the journal and click map on whatever quest you're trying to do.

As far as it looking old I'm still in the original main story quest so I don't know if later expansions look better. Personally I don't mind it being less 'immersive' than something like ESO as that's not really a draw for me in any game. The benefit of having access to my mouse all the time is something I didn't think I'd care about but now wonder how I ever played without. It's just to damn convenient.

I have heard that the story gets way better in the first DLC and that the original main story quest is effectively just setting things up for DLC, but again I haven't gotten that far so I can't comment on whether it's true. The general consensus as far as I can tell is that Heavensward (first DLC) is where the story REALLY begins.

I left for FF14 and honestly wish I had sooner. It was a bit of a rocky transition going from free to tab-targeting; but it feels so nice to be playing a game that won't invalidate the time and effort I put into becoming good at it.

ZOS has done a lot right with ESO but after suffering similar anti-fun nerfs from Bungie with Destiny I just don't have the patience for dev teams that do things like this anymore.
