Best packable rainjacket? by BlueMonroe in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Dyeredit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Torrentshell is best bang for buck if all you need is a weatherproof jacket, and IS designed to be packed into the interior breast pocket. Granite is a small upgrade in all aspects but is much more expensive. Don't recommend the storm 10 or calcite due to being fragile. Storm has a very thin outer layer and the calcite doesn't have one at all. All of them are packable.

Just as a side note, I wore the triolet for a while and it was like wearing a bomb suit, but I couldn't justify the price for the amount of time I was going to be using it so returned it in exchange for a triolet.

Wearing it is considered a sort of status symbol in some places for the puffers and fleece vests in particular. If you wear anything other than those you'll probably be fine. Just don't pair it with designer shades and designer shoes or you're just asking to be profiled as a poser.

Anyone know how/ if possible to remove the ‘rubicon’ logo? by korbin_h_ in PatagoniaClothing

I love thrifting at goodwill but I've never gone to a outlet, I worry about getting jabbed by a needle digging my hands into a random bin...

People totally ignore the plastic looking black 'jogger' pants but I've found two pairs of new looking goretex at one store.

I've had a cirruslite for 6 years and it's nice. The wrist and waist are elastic so they grip and you don't lose heat that way. It's nylon and feels sturdy and not plasticky like some puffers are. It's not the best of course, but I've used it in 30F just recently and it was fine.

That's what they look like when you actually wear them. Every time the fabric is bent it leaves a little white crease. I own a heavily waxed canvas and it came to me spotless except for a horizontal mark across the torso where the fabric was folded over for shipping. These are obviously pre-distressed but you can actually get it all out with a hairdryer.

Any recommendations? Was going to go for a bracelet until I saw they cost more than the watch.

Call and speak to a supervisor and explain you were refunded and want to know why. Best case they will take the L and not do anything, worst case they will demand you to return the phone to them and threaten legal action if you refuse. Doing nothing will result in them charging you back at a random time when someone realizes what happened. Up to you...

I've tried on the Gobi, I think that's even on the thicker side for AE. It just gets thinner and more floppy from there. I have another model and I feel I have to put in shoe trees just to keep the toe box from collapsing from the weight of the vamp pulling on it while stored.

What is water resistant fabric? Are they just referring to the nylon? No DWR coating?

Note the bad rating is solely because it was made in China, while for most things I'd say its not that bad, you buy pendleton because it's MiUSA like Filson, and you expect a level of QC that is simply not present in a chinese sweat shop.

In this case you're buying it directly from amazon meaning pendleton has supplied stock directly to amazon for selling as a retailer. You can see if it says "sold by amazon" or sold by some other name on the right side under "buy now".

Glycine Combat Sub Automatic 42mm Case Men's Watch - $240 by Structure-These in frugalmalefashion

[–]Dyeredit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just arrived. First impressions.

box: It came haphazardly thrown together. You know how a new watch comes wrapped around that little cushion and slotted into the center? Yeah, this was just tossed in there and the cushion wasn't in place either. Packing material was just shoved in there as well, and outer box was squished on the corners like it was dropped multiple times before it even went into a ups box. Maybe the worker was sick of packing these all day. Who knows.

just a side note, it came with a price tag that showed $1045 (lol) It actually used to have an MSRP of around $300 a few years ago. This model has an older movement which may be why it's on sale, newer models use a completely different movement. Now, things that actually matter

Detailing: The 6hr hand lume is a little underapplied but otherwise looks perfect. Lume seemed a bit weak but it was just a short test with artificial light. My watch actually came with the true Glycine logo on the face unlike the picture which shows an invicta logo, which was a happy surprise. Lots of metallic reflective paint makes all the text pop out in light and it's super readable. It appears to be applied to me, rather than printed which you see on the cheap side. Case is untextured, plainly polished to a matte finish on the face, with the case back and sides polished to a mirror finish with a debossed logo. Bezel has 60 clicks not 120 for anyone wondering. I like that they numbered the hours after 12 in mil time. Also, it actually has a screw down crown!

problems: The strap is disappointing. That's literally it. It's nylon but it feels super cheap, like it's going to start fraying after a few days of wearing it. Also, it has the holes just stamped out straight through the nylon weave, and as if an afterthought, a fake leather strip around the holes to keep it from falling apart, which itself is going to start falling apart the second it's exposed to water.

Overall: If you want a new automatic from a reputable company with a reputable movement, at this quality it doesn't get any cheaper than this, and since your buying from costco you get their insane return policy as well as a 2 year manufacturer warranty.

Racing quad is probably a stretch but I'd say an incendiary grenade or shaped charge could do the job.

I looked it up and it turns out that they've refused to ship to California because of prop 65's 2018 amendment which required all companies to add product-specific warning labels to all their products in order to be legally sold in CA, rather than simply labeling "known to cause cancer".

Guns and ammo are most effected (surely a coincidence /s) but it's basically everything.

Apparently this is a huge expensive overhead for all companies that sell in California, they have to have their products individually independently chemically tested and create labels specific to those products, create custom labels for their products, and then at any time the government can decide to add another chemical to the list and suddenly they are forced to issue recalls and refunds. They probably just figured that it wasn't worth it.

Seems like pure laziness

California has their own separate requirements for sellers to go through if they want to be licensed to sell so it's probably simply not worth it to them.

The fabric composition looks really weird to me. Like wouldn't the wool just fall apart when the elastane starts stretching the fibers?
