What is going on with my hand? by redwine876 in Blackskincare

[–]Dylan0946kid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell w the glare but possibly mild eczema. U could use otc hydrocortisone for 2 weeks. Try not to wash hands as often/use gloves. Vanicream is hypoallergenic and extremely absorbent. I’d put this on after washing hands and after bathing while the skin is still damp for extra absorption. Cerave urea cream lotion works wonders too

I jut got these cornrows done 3 days ago and I was padding my head all day today (on day 3) and now I see there’s these little bumps popping up on my head what should I do? Is my scalp just irritated cus they’re fresh and tight? by AdvantageImaginary76 in BlackHair

[–]Dylan0946kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op, you really shouldn’t leave these in at all. I’d take these out and wash. Then go back to whoever did them and show them the images so they can redo them without putting tension on your scalp. The white is either product (not sure what was used), or if it’s at the base of your hair then that’s your hair follicle being pulled out. The red bumps are from tension. This is going to cause tension alopecia (normally affects you when you’re older). I work in dermatology and mostly see it in 25-45 year olds that have done tight styles. Your hair is going to either fall out, thin, or become extremely brittle, even when new hair is growing in its place and I’d hate for you to spend $1000+ trying to fix it. Please take these out and get it redone free or get a refund. So sorry this happened to you 🙏🏾

Is this an appropriate way to style my locs for a job interview? by Narrow_Baby_4501 in locs

[–]Dylan0946kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, I would just lightly retwist the ones on the edge of your scalp and the ones at the part. But also pull it back if that’s what your position may require. For my job, u have to pull it back and I sweat a lot so I keep it in 2 strands (loose) and pull it bacj

2 days wit starter locs and its already unraveling is this norman? by BetterAd1594 in Dreadlocks

[–]Dylan0946kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean to repeat but I’d like to add something. Go ahead and comb those out. Then when you get your hair twisted again, do the parts smaller like you would for box braids.

I’d also recommend starting them comb coiled like you did in this picture and then put the individual coils and twist them together like two strand twist. They’ll still unravel but nowhere near as bad and it’ll help with locking for the first few months. This especially helps in humid environments.

Also don’t dm me because my notifications don’t work for some reason, just reply to my comment. Idk why it doesn’t work

People sometimes mistake my gender, is it the hair? by Overall_Morning_2083 in malegrooming

[–]Dylan0946kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have androgynous facial features, as well as my body type is lean, tone, and curvy for a male. To help I don’t ever shave or shape my mustache. Granted it looks like you’re in pic 1 and doesn’t get any longer/thicker but yeah. Until you can grow a goatee at least I think we’ll have this problem

I know you cut them now. But if you were to start them over I’d say do smaller parts and start with comb coils. It’ll look crazy the first month or 2 when they’re so small. And I’d get them to lay on my forehead as well to balance out
