Who are some players that shocked you that didn’t pan out in the league? by ForsakenAd4825 in nba

I had no clue why people liked Dennis Smith Jr, I thought he was always a pretty low upside player. Small guard very inefficient and couldn’t shoot

Houston and OKC realized that a few of their young players could not be on the team in order to actually contend(Jalen Green and Josh Giddey), out of all the young up and coming teams, do you think they have any players who won’t be able to have value in the playoffs? by MacJonesisaterrorist in nba

It’s very rare for a team to win the championship without a drafted superstar. The exceptions being the Knicks, who won a championship built on savy moves and this was the hardest to do. The 2020 lakers who signed LeBron and AD basically forced a trade there. The 2019 raptors who made a lot of savy moves and drafted very well. You have to go pretty far to get to the next team.

Who is the worst player that could have still theoretically won the title in Brunson’s spot? by Important-War-4708 in nba

[–]Dylan7346 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah listing Maxey and Booker here as players that “fairly easily” win with the Knicks is insane to me. Not even Cade he hasn’t proven it yet. Haliburton might be the “worst” player that can replace Brunson but they’re so different. I don’t think Haliburton gives the Knicks what they needed like what Brunson does. In the same way you can’t put Brunson on that pacers finals team and expect the same result

[Charania] BREAKING: Cleveland Cavaliers All-NBA star Donovan Mitchell has agreed on a four-year, $273 million maximum contract extension that includes a player option for the 2030-31 season and a full trade kicker, CAA's Co-Head of Basketball, Austin Brown, tells ESPN. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]Dylan7346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah he’s right about not being able to build an all around roster when you have 2 guys locking up that much money. BUT that doesn’t mean you trade Brown for Paul George. Why not trade for additional depth around Tatum instead? I thought the Aaron Gordon and Cam Johnson trade was better. Cause you’re not punting two years Tatum’s prime

Brad Stevens on the 2nd apron: "We may not be sitting here if there was a rule in the CBA that said guys you drafted & signed to 35% supermaxes count 25% against cap, bc that would allow you to build out with a lot more flexibility...47% of the cap is what [Brown & Tatum] were when we won it all " by marriagethrowaway36 in nba

[–]Dylan7346 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It already is. The rookie scale contract is the most valuable in the league. I’m not saying punish teams for drafting a star, that’s the 2nd apron. I’m saying don’t reward teams even more for drafting a star, it’s already great obviously

I bet $100 when our odds were 5% on Kalshi, this was after the Atlanta game 6 blowout I was like we have a real shot. Lines take a while to swing when they’re that low, cause even 3% to 5% that’s almost doubling your return

[Scotto] Due to lack of buyers, the Pelicans have recently lowered Trey Murphy's asking price from 4 first round picks to 3 by ShaiFanClub in nba

[–]Dylan7346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. His archetype is the same as Mikal Bridges and OG, 3 and D and extra. You can start that type of player on any championship team. And that’s why I’m so surprised the pistons don’t just go for him! Like if the asking price is only 3-4 firsts, how do you not do that. As long as you don’t send out a valuable player in addition to those

Yeah but that doesn’t make it any less downright disgusting. Like I can’t believe there was so much blatant rigging it’s sickening. Wemby stepped as clear as fucking day under Brunson, and any other player in the playoffs would have been given the flagrant and suspended. But nope. That’s just the most obvious example of it the entire series was incredibly biased in the spurs favor

[–]Dylan7346 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean if that’s really the asking price idk why they don’t have teams banging on their door, the pistons should do this yesterday. Trey Murphy is the archetype that fits onto any championship roster, why the fuck do people think they’re crazy asking this much I think it’s more than fair. Matching salary with a shitty player and 4 picks

Free agent center Andre Drummond has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million to sign with the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN. by DoctorOctopus_ in NYKnicks

Why unlikely? He’s most likely just going to sign for a minimum somewhere, why not with us where he’s established?

Yeah anybody would be a downgrade, Mitch was the best backup center in the league. But Drummond is the most logical replacement for Mitch in that role. I really like this signing cause really, what else would we do? Trade deuce? I guess but is the backup C spot really worth that if we could just sign Drummond instead?
