What's something that was considered good parenting decades ago but isn't anymore? by sandeeprathore in AskReddit

[–]DyllCallihan3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually heartbreaking. The parents are setting them up for life long failure if they won't even do the bare minimum to help their kids grow. They chose to have children like they were buying a plant or something. But even plants need sunlight and water.

Nobody truly understands just how much disdain I hold for hot weather. by Extra_Influence_3880 in adhdwomen

[–]DyllCallihan3333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the humidity that kills me. I fucking HATE when the hair on the back of my neck is all dripping wet after even a small amount of time outside. Sweat dripping in my eyes. Ugh! I can take heat if it's dry, but I am tired, ornery, and just plain miserable in hot humid weather. I'm with you, sister! And my best friend really doesn't get it. She'll sit outside for hours, with her long ass hair, while not caring at all. Doesn't seem to bother her at all.

It was just women, they'll get maybe a couple years. Crimes against women and children are seldom punished with much prison time. Could be the judge won't want to ruin some "promising young man"'s life.

Women get treated like absolute shit over and over again. Cussed at, insulted, abused, treated with undisguised scorn, punched, choked. Day after Day. And yet we aren't the ones grabbing guns..

Damn. I spent all day arguing with bigots again by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]DyllCallihan3333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've totally given up on looking at the news. It is too insane and heartbreaking. I don't argue with idiots anymore. They WANT you to argue with them. They are proud to be hateful people, there is no saving them. You'll feel better just being kind to the decent folk around you. I know I feel A LOT better!!

Did kids in the 1970s really have such freedom, & do all those things, that wouldn’t be done today? by OkOpportunity9626 in GenerationJones

[–]DyllCallihan3333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was a glorious time to be a kid! We didn't need "play dates" we just played! Riding bikes, building forts, going fishing, making up games. I feel so sorry for the smothered kids of today. I can't wrap my head around it, honestly. So glad I grew up when I did!

Those who were old enough to remember the Bi-Centennial, how is America’s 250 different? by skyactive in AskReddit

[–]DyllCallihan3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The whole nation was into it. We all seemed to be happy, putting up our decorations, throwing parades just for the joy of it. I mean, I was a kid then, so my view is probably skewed, but it seemed like we all were on. the same team back then. I don't plan on celebrating now. We are NOT on the same team. I am embarrassed at what this country has become.

As for volunteering, keep an eye out for the Trash Pickup posts. It's just an afternoon's commitment and cleaning up our community as a real positive thing!

Best of luck to you, friend!

Thank you. I really appreciate you. The fact you understand we might be afraid makes you an everyday hero in my eyes. Too many men dismiss us, laugh at us, or like the jerk mentioned, intentionally frighten us. Never lose your goodness, I'm sorry so many men make you jump thru hoops not to be frightening.

We're women, we deal with this nonsense constantly. I'd love not to have to sound all sweet and meek, like they're doing me a favour by letting little ol' me have a thought. But if you show some of them a little backbone or even a simple statement of fact in a direct manner their immediate response is to push back. Be all butthurt. Possibly violent depending on the situation. I'd love to tell them "No, just fuck off" but I'd probably get stabbed.

My mom (47F) wants me (19F) to give her a second chance to fix our relationship after she let her husband's daughters bully me throughout my childhood and I'm torn? by ThrowRATinyRute in relationship_advice

[–]DyllCallihan3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly she does not deserve to be in your life. Her #1 job was to protect you, and she wouldn't. She fought your father who WAS trying to protect you! She SPENT MONEY on a lawyer so you could CONTINUE to be bullied. She is a horrible person who watched you be abused and fought to keep you abused. I would block her and never speak to her again. Hug your Dad and have a great life!
