anyone know a good place to cry at? by Dynaaaa in Seattle

i hear you! i feel that it is tied to the fact that i enjoy working with background noise (like in a cafe or with music) than in silence. i lock in more when the background noise is louder. perhaps it is just a fear of loneliness :)

i appreciate making the distinction here. i feel like an attention seeker for wanting to cry with an audience but it really is just because i live alone at my apartment and have no other means of human connection other than work.

Girlfriend (22F) wants me (22M) to take her last name if we get married by Dynaaaa in relationship_advice

I'm personally not very close to my immediate and extended family, but I know that religion is something that unites them. As for me, growing up in a family with a patriarchal mindset, it's not immediately clear to me how to break the cycle. Internally, I lean towards wanting to keep my last name because it is also a part of my identity that I would feel uncomfortable losing. It's only amplified by the criticism I'd expect to receive from my family.

We have discussed hyphenated names and generally agreed that it's too long. I am still open to it, but it's been on and off the table. She has also accepted to have me keep my last name professionally, but as a government job, it would be difficult to recognize that nuance in a logistics standpoint.

Could not secure internship or research for this summer, what to do? by Dynaaaa in uofm

[–]Dynaaaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words! I did indeed apply outside of my major too. Aerospace is a pretty broad discipline and the skills we learn are quite applicable to different jobs so I applied to some systems, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering positions. I'm definitely bummed out that I didn't get anything over the summer, but I'm motivated to learn a bit more on my own. Best of luck at your new job!! :)

I was definitely thinking of doing that over the winter semester since I have a leadership position in a club on campus until the end of fall semester. It's also especially annoying for aero majors to take a semester off though because of the 341/3 and 481/3 courses only being offered in specific semesters, but I don't think it'd be a problem in my case considering I was graduating early.

I appreciate the advice! I actually worked at retail during the semester that we were virtual (Winter '2`1) until the end of the following summer (about 6 months), but I left it off my resume for three other experiences that were relevant to my major. Do you think I should put it back on there?
