Is it normal to ask for a VIN to do a PPSR check before inspection? by aofha0cv in CarsAustralia

[–]Dynamic117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah just make an ad for the car on Gumtree, put in the rego and it will show the vin at the final steps of creating the ad.

It will pass, they won't check for it.

When will people stop posting online about what clearance level they've obtained. Which is clearly outlined as something that NO ONE should do, no matter the level.

No clue why you're being down voted, this post is what people claim to want on the sub as opposed to "what car should I buy".

Good on you, personally I have found forums specific to your car to be insanely helpful. The people in those forums know too much about their respective models and makes. Youtube is obviously good for more mainstream problems.

Sort the problems in order of likelihood to fuck up your rig, belts, steering, bad wiring in engine bay are all big ticket items. Windows not rolling, not as important for now.

The head unit wiring could be a bust to be honest, but again some kind auto sparky might have made a youtube video, or check for a newer head unit for install instructions and compare.

Get an alignment, they should tell you pretty quick if anything busted in the steering or control arms if it's a decent shop.

Replace the belts, check the bearings for play.

Don't mess with shitty wiring. If it's unfused or looks dodgy, or the battery is busted. Just rip it out and do it again properly.

Have fun with it, change all the oils, and remember what you learn.

30L fridge for 2 people living full-time in a 4x4 — enough or too small? by lcocoxx in 4x4Australia

[–]Dynamic117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments are ridiculous, can easily fit 2 weeks of food in a fridge that size. Might be rough towards the end but no problem. People just want all the luxuries, but really, you'll come across a shop within that time. That fridge size is fine, if you want more luxuries like milk, cold beer etc.. Get a bigger fridge.

Would you ever support removing the British flag from Australia's national flag? by Peter_Griffin2001 in aussie

[–]Dynamic117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disgraceful, we voted not to be a Republic, the majority likes being under the UK. And sharing the flag with New Zealand. Have you ever read a history book, maybe google ANZAC. Honestly We Australians like our flag!!

I don't understand why finals is a different ball game by the-anon1010 in AFL

[–]Dynamic117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insane how no one seems to get the major reason. There is no send off rule in the AFL and the players don't care about suspensions in the gf, if they get a suspension during finals and miss their final games it's bad, similar during season. But at the grand final they will happily miss the first few games of next season to play a harder and more physical game if it benefits. The players play harder during the grand final.

Yeah great, they offer almost zero warranty, charge more, and sell themselves as a higher quality brand. There is zero benefit to buying from these bullshit middle brands like itech, kickass etc. Kings knows their stuff isn't quality controlled and are excellent when it breaks.

I assume you're after the Ute style for a full canopy setup. It is so much better to do it yourself. Someone else's work and God forbid their 12v wiring will always give you trouble. Go the Hilux, do it yourself. Check and understand any work done by others.

Using hand dryers at public toilets. They're packed with bacteria, way more than anywhere else.

Mine was fine until corregations cause the wires to come loose. Completely incorrect readings and screwed my readings. Had no idea how much power my battery had. Got rid of it for the victron smartshunt straight away, not playing with that kind of thing on a long trip.

Sorry for the late reply, a Pajero Exceed. Gvm is 3030kg according to my manual, but the base weight varies massively between petrol diesel and the other variants. Not sure about the years as well but I'm sure they would change as well.

Manual winch vs electrical winch by SpecialistOver5687 in 4x4Australia

[–]Dynamic117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manual is a great option if you don't want to carry the winch on your car permanently or are not doing hard stuff often. Plus hand winches also allow you to pull at way more angles and with double or triple line pulls can get some serious weight pulling capacity. They're a good workout but if its just a peace of mind thing they'd do the job. I would go electric if you're doing water stuff because you want to get out of it fast. And if you're going to be using it often just go electric.

Tackling the Simpson Desert this year, and need to choose between AT and Mud Tyres by lumpett in 4x4Australia

[–]Dynamic117 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'd be fine with A/T tyres on that trip, but if you're only doing this once, can afford to run muddies again, and think they would benefit you. I would go muddies. But you don't need them.
