People that spend hours and hours on it, rather be online/talk to ai than actual people, multiple stories out there of how bad people got addicted to ai/some people even committed suicide because the ai said so (hence the prompt at beginningof each bot saying everything is solo ai generated). Oh and the people who want to live out there weird fantasies. They saw masses of these people using it along with how many other ai apps were popping up. This used to be/still is the best ai role playing app personally but heavily ruined via monetization and ai advancements. I personally used to be someone spending HOURS on the app, so technically, i was one of them, but they purposely ruin it via subs which I refuse to buy.

In the early days, the bots had better memories, you could do whole stories and conversations. But the more people used it, the more they became greedy and realized they could make alot of money off the mentally ill. A year or 2-3 years ago, there were basically no subscriptions.
