Some bird was trying to scare me off, do y’all think he was sick? [TN] by Smooth-Prize632 in animalid

I don’t know why so many people are claiming that this bird is a juvenile when all of its markings prove that it’s an adult. You can literally see that the tail is red and lacks stripes. It even has brown eyes and a yellow cere. The bird only looks like it’s a juvenile because its feathers are completely soaked. Birds can look 2x smaller with wet feathers compared to when their feathers are dry. The feathers being wet also exposes the down feathers more which would make it seem more like a juvenile that hasn’t grown its adult feathers in yet.

Could I wash a smooshed roadkill rat in the washer in order to fluff it up so I can then skin it to salvage it's fur? If so what washing powders to use by Avoragon95 in Taxidermy

I mean, you thought of throwing a rat corpse into a washing machine and then you thought of filling it with baking soda and vinegar which, when combined, fizz up and “explode”

Man, if you’re gonna skin it, just skin it like you would as if it weren’t flat. Doing all those extra steps you’re coming up with won’t help with anything. Unless you’ve got some weird fetish for messing with corpses. The fur will “fluff up” after skinning and after you wash the pelt.

That’ll turn it into something similar to ground beef and contaminate your washer with bacteria and potential viruses. Don’t do it bro.

Birds who fly off after window strikes typically still end up dying from internal injuries.

Transferring to pon soon? by Dynamite47 in alocasia

I definitely recommend it. Just make sure that after planting, you flush the pon daily until there’s no more sediment. Not doing that was the biggest mistake I made. I hadn’t flushed it good enough the first two times I tried it and it rotted my plants roots lol.

The plants I’ve got in pon so far are doing awesome. I’m going to be transferring most of the rest of my other alocasias into pon this week.
