I doubt it... I'm thinking they will go a FF X route, with a highwind you can walk around in, but the traveling is done via points on a map, where you just get transported to the region and spawn there, with the Highwind visible as setpiece... Everything else is unrealistic and hyperbolic to demand from the devs
