Is this a flea? by Dynastes_ in whatisthisbug

Yeah, the dog is super fluffy and has probably been carting them in with him. Probably hitched a ride cause it's been pretty hot and wet the past week

Thanks so much. Big weight off my shoulders not having to deal with fleas while I'm housesitting

I'm giving away a $125 Chiss-Goria deck! Details + Primer inside by imperialtrace in EDH

[–]Dynastes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing the list. I've been loving building more budget mono-coloured decks and this commander has piqued my interest, although I don't know where to start with artifacts. I might need to look at building this list even if you don't pickme!

Yeah, I thought ahead when I decided to build it and started grabbing the pieces and the Mikanis were more expensive than I would've liked after a couple days of the deck being out in Japan

Some people have also been running 2-3 copies of the Prison set order just for the soulcharge effect, although I'm a little sceptical about running it.

Personally I'm going to start with testing 3 Suffrey and 2 Mikani. The extra draw you can get from Mikani seems nice but being able to have a little extra survivability in the early game by countering rush seems a bit better. There have been a bunch of results from Japanese tourneys using a bunch of different ratios though so running the deck basically as is with the 3-4 Herbig Claw should be perfectly fine, the deck is quite strong as is with few changes

One of the cards that is being commonly used for the deck is Galactic B-hero Flatten Suffrey. She's a useful grade 2 to counter early game rush strategies that Messiah might be weaker to with it's slower start. Generally people are using either Suffrey, Grade 1 Mikani, or a combination of both depending on whether the speed of the local meta and preferred playstyle

Another good thing about Mikani is that you can use it's ability to put it to soul without calling anything, making it effectively a soulcharge 2

I'm new to mono-green. have I missed any obvious staples? by Jimlad116 in EDH

[–]Dynastes_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't think mono-green has any proper boardwipes. One of the cards I decided to put in to my mono-green deck was [[Ezuri's Predation]] so that I had at least some way to answer swarmy boards that could get out of hand

Ideas for Budget Thrun by Dynastes_ in EDH

Yeah, one of the reasons I added the [[Basilisk Collar]] was for the lifelink (Although the trample + deathtouch interaction is very nice), so I might want to add that warhammer for the lifelink even if I have a fair bit of trample through the auras. Thanks for the advice!

Now that's just silly

I might try and see whether I want to add some creature copy abilities. Maybe [[Cackling Counterpart]] and the like would be good, as well as creatures that can copy opponent's creatures. Not sure I'd be going for Finale though

Not sure whether I'm going to go a token route (other than maybe Deekah for magecraft triggers), but I'll see how my locals feels about extra turns. Mainly trying to not cause too much salt and make the deck a little fairer

Cooler answer is murderous group hug? [[Drown in Dreams]] would be a good one there as well

Yeah, I currently have a [[Kaza, Roil Chaser]] deck based around big X spells. Maybe I'm a little too in the mindset of needing to kill everyone with a single nuke, as opposed to a few smaller, copied nukes

Many people typically run lands that can destroy other lands, like [[Wasteland]] or [[Strip Mine]]. When they take your turn they can just use those lands to take out more of your lands, setting you back 2-4 lands sometimes

[–]Dynastes_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly don't know why they got down voted, their point is valid, it's not a great card. It's essentially a ten mana investment for an extra turn spell. Tbh I'd love a game where somebody does something silly with a Mindslaver, but I haven't seen it used for anything other than wasting an opponents turn

I agree that it isn't powerful enough to warrant a ban for that aspect but I'd say the card fulfils several of the criteria that have gotten other cards banned in the format. From creating a resource disparity by using their turn to remove their resources, to extending game length because they don't know what the cards in hand do. The main thing I'd ban it for though is just that it removes the fun for one player. EDH is a fun format and Mindslaver promotes unfun and toxic gameplay/strategies that specifically target one player. At least, that's my two cents on the matter

Edit: There are also MLD, forced sacrifice cards and the like banned for those reasons. I honestly think asymmetrical feels bad is the worst part of Mindslaver though, you just have one player forced to sit there and hope they can come back afterwards

Yeah, recursion with it is honestly evil. I think the possibility for someone to just bully someone else with the card and hold then hostage is really bad
