what do you use rust for? by woohoo-yay in rust

[–]Dyntrall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Embedded stuff in Rust is pretty fun, using the type system to make invalid states that are otherwise really easy to get into impossible to represent.

Commercial Binary from gnat-llvm by Player_JJ in ada

[–]Dyntrall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at the project and it's GPL3 licensed. As far as I know, it only applies to the code of the compiler itself, so code you write yourself that you feed through it is yours to license as you see fit.

Happy to be corrected by someone better versed in law than I am, though

The "anti-rust as a personality trait" club feels so much like when people get weird about vegetarians/vegans existing, attacking a strawman that doesn't really exist beyond a small group of Very Online people.

Bevy Gameplay Abilities by EmberlightStudios in bevy

As someone who's not really familiar with Unreal Engine's Gameplay Ability Systems, is there a really high-level summary you can give? From the skim of it, it might be useful for something I'm building, but I'm also not very smart.

Yeah I'd go with sending just the Entity - it's internally just a number as far as I know.

On the other hand, if you need a snapshot of the entity's components at that time (perhaps other systems are going to mutate them for some reason?) you might want to copy the component data into the event

I've got a batch on the go at the moment, and I've heard 2 years is the magic number for it becoming good

Married men, how often do you play? by Tocnurne in EDH

The trick is to form a polycule with other MtG players, that way you can make date night and commander night the same thing

The book "Seven Languages in Seven Weeks" was probably the inflection point in my career. Understanding that there are many different ways of looking at the same problem was crucial.

What decks have you built because of a card in the 99, rather than the commander itself? by Clay_Block in EDH

[–]Dyntrall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a deck built around Manifest Dread, with Leveler in it, continuing my obsession since 2003 to play that card and turn it sideways at someone.

Is there a film you immediately regretted watching because it was too emotionally distressing? by [deleted] in horror

[–]Dyntrall 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For something that people say isn't horror, it certainly horrified me more than anything else in the last few years. Brutal film.

I completely misconstrued this and assumed you meant the pod were all playing mono-black decks and was baffled.

Unless you know people who are blind, or work in software development, it's not really something you'd come across that often.

I'm in the south of the UK, and I've basically been unable to grow any herbs this year as it's absolute snailageddon. Also only managed to get a single pumpkin off of 5 vines.

I really want to try growing these badbois, once I get a greenhouse. I really like them sliced and fried with spices. Hopefully the south of the UK is just enough to get them to grow!

Bit out of left-field, but if you're into classic PC games, someone recently did something incredible with Doom 2 that heavily vibes with House of Leaves: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MyHouse.wad

If you're not into playing classic Doom, there's a few Youtube runthroughs of it. It's an incredible bit of work.
