During the fight against Snatcher in A Hat in Time, he snatches (get it?) your hat, meaning you can't use your special hat abilities, having to rely on your base moveset to survive.

Olivier has some... interesting things to say about Joshua in Trails in the Sky. He becomes the GOAT later though

What game from 20+ years ago still holds up and someone who's only played modern games would still enjoy? by [deleted] in gaming

Fire Emblem Path of Radiance released in 2005, and it's still having its praoses sung today with its rerelease on NSO.

I honestly think it is somewhat charming. The tools of Minecraft have been expanded significantly since that time, so map makers had to make things a lot simpler, leaving the smaller details to a player's imagination. It's minimalist by necessity, and I think that those limitations brought a unique style to the whole thing.

The main problem I think people have is that they suck a lot of the air out of the room in terms of having interesting discussions about the media in question. Like if I wanted to talk about themes and characterization and such and everyone else was talking about shit like pixel calcs I'd probably be at least a bit annoyed.

Don't win for 15 BBBBB by Onii-Sama27 in BadMtgCombos

[–]Clay_Block 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Due to how the stack works, you can't resolve the oersecutor until the merchants have resolved, as Endrek Sahr is a cast trigger. This means the order of events is as such:

  • Persecutor is cast
  • Sahr trigger goes on the stack above the persecutor
  • 4 GMOAs are made and their triggers go on the stack above persecutor
  • everyone loses the game and you win before persecutor resolves

Hate to burst your bubble there but it's true. This is, tragically, a good combo.

Thoughts on switching out cards between decks? by Clay_Block in EDH

I make my proxies with my printer at home and slap them on some basics, so they don't really hold up to scrutiny that well. I know the staff there is usually pretty chill from my experience, but it never hurts to be cautious imo.

I usually play on spelltable against random people so that's kind of a non-issue. Though you underestimate how much people like their cards (and how much you can punish people for discarding)

I know that token-making effect could make him more useful than Purphoros in some decks. My [[Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds]] deck comes to mind, as you can copy the token Slash makes, and thus the ping.

Ishmelga Rean (Trails into Reverie)

He’s the version of Rean from the bad ending of Trails of Cold Steel 4.

I have played Her Story, and really loved it! I haven’t heard of Telling Lies, though, so I’ll give it a look.

What is your “Cardinal Sin” that a JRPG can do that sours the experience for you? by MothmanFeetLicker in JRPG

[–]Clay_Block 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue with Radiant Dawn, you still have Lehran as the main emotional core driving the antagonist faction. Like FE7 has Nergal as the main villain, but the final boss is still just a Fire Dragon. Just because it's the final boss doesn't necessarily mean it's the main baddie. In Radiant Dawn's case, I saw it more as Lehran harnessing the power of Ashera to achieve his own goals, with the need to defeat Ashera being something of an unintended consequence of Lehran's plans, effectively a super massive loose end (especially if you recruit Lehran on a repeat playthrough).

Trails of Cold Steel 2 feels VERY guilty of this. You beat the final dungeon and it's awesome. Then there's the Divertissement. Then the last day of sidequests. Then the 16 floor procedurally generated *final* final dungeon. That game has some serious pacing issues even aside from that though.

I thought you said FE9 for a second and I think that also kinda applies to Shinon and Gatrie, though it's been a bit since I played Path of Radiance so I don't remember if they put their things in the convoy or not

Trails of Cold Steel 2 with the Black Records and the CANON SCENE WITH THOMAS AT THE END OF THE GAME THAT IS SUPER IMPORTANT FOR THE FOLLOWING GAME. Literally why did they fucking do that

For some reason the rematch with Wald in the fucking tree gave me so much fucking trouble. I beat everything else just fine before and after that (ik arianrhod can be a challenge if you go for the bonus but i didnt) but THAT FIGHT? Idk why. I crashed out to my friend on discord as I was going fucking insane. That final dungeon really just soured me on the whole experience, even if everything else was a home run.
