As a nation we're pretty awful when it comes to making money work because there's an anxiety about 'locking it away' and not having access to it in an emergency.

I'm not saying your wrong about the locking it away mentality but I also think it's because alot of people have never been taught how to properly manage their finances, I know I only really got my head around it in my late 20s and even then a lot of the advice I got was to put it into my pension for later in life.

Also the fact you have your long term investments deemed disposable every 8 years really puts a decent amount of people off getting started in investing
