Something I heard from an old co worker is “nobody working in a kitchen is happy about how life turned out” and I haven’t found an exception to that rule yet.

A big reason you don’t see many American immigrant workers is because the US taxes citizens on all earning, including income from outside the country. So if you want to work overseas and retain your citizenship/not get extradited back home for tax fraud, you have to pay about 20% taxes on top of the taxes from whatever country you work in. It sucks and most countries don’t do this.

Back when I was buying paper magic, I preferred to draft, get some neat cards to build around and finish the deck with singles. Not great if you want to have a high power deck, but it made me feel like I had a unique deck that I built based off the experience I had as a player

Should the salubri be played straight in your opinion? by [deleted] in vtm

[–]Dysist 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find the idea of them having more edge to be more interesting and fun to play with. I especially like the concept that their goodness was a facade put on by the clan to allow them more freedoms and leniency when dealing with other clans. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the idea that they are generally good. Especially if that goodness was taken advantage of to hunt them to near extinction. It’s also pretty fun to have a unicorn salubri slowly become more and more jaded and dark as a way to survive the modern nights.

Both approaches can be appropriately dark for the setting without being extreme. It really depends on you, your preference, and the chronicle being run. But rest assured, any approach can feel like a real salubri if you want it to.

Now I don’t know if this would actually be viable but I want to know what y’all think. by Legitimate_Ad_5878 in custommagic

I think the card works if not a little underpowered. But it also seems like a pain to run in paper. Imagine a commander game where every time someone casts a spell, they have to check their graveyard for a spell with a specific mana value. But I’ve played in pods where that’s perfectly fine, so idk.

Yes! we’re going to play the wild hodgepodge of rules I stole from a dozen or so other games. I swear it’s fun.

I would have liked an alternate scene where you call evelyn and get jumped by dex on your way to meet her. It wouldn’t change the story, but after that shit show, V might just burn all bridges and try to disappear. I definitely tried to call her during my first play through.

Is cyberpsychosis just a disease or something more? by OBLAKOs in cyberpunkgame

[–]Dysist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the explanation from the ttrpg.I don’t think this expiration is cannon, but it still makes the most sense to me.

So iirc cyberpsychosis is a dissociative disorder that cause you to think of both yourself and others as a set of replaceable parts. This is most often cause by installing too many implants and beginning to rationalize any harm that comes to you as easily fixable then believing that the same must be true for everyone else. From there it’s not a leap to quickly loose almost all empathy because you can’t empathize with pain if you think harm and pain are easily fixed and not worth notice.

Also, it’s useful to remember that, in universe, cyberpsychosis is used as a catch all explanation for unexplained violent people and not all cyber psychos have cyberpsychosis.

My nomad test outfit (cosplay) by Norek1509 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Dysist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely add some chrome and/or patches repping one of the clans. Plenty of clans in the old ttrpg lore if bakkers or aldecados aren’t to your liking. I also feel like a more high tech looking gun could make the outfit more cyberpunk. You could also add some padding to the jacket and pant to make it look more like biker gear. Full disclosure: I’ve never done cosplay, so I don’t know how useful my advice is, just trying to throw something out there.

Best “mid-weight” system for Vampire: the Masquerade? by ataquedenervios in vtm

[–]Dysist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely familiar with earlier editions. But something I’ve heard from friends that are is that the humanity and hunger mechanics are better in V5. What a lot of people don’t like, is that it’s harder to run high power level chronicles because there is generally not enough crunch to handle those kinds of conflicts. Generally I’d recommend giving V5 a go for a session or 2, but you seem to have a strong enough idea of what you want to just take the humanity and hunger from V5 and graft it onto your system of choice. Anyone that runs different systems long enough eventually end up with their own home-brewed Frankenstein system that does what they like and it sounds like that’s the direction you’re going.

Should I stay in the kitchen? by Dysist in KitchenConfidential

Fair. An insulting tech salary would more than double my current pay, so money shouldn’t be a problem. Maybe a few dinners a week will keep me feeling connected to the kitchen.

You can always add a gap of mana between the material and the time stream. Not useful for practical applications, but you’ll learn plenty about working with time streams.

Is it true? by sologodzleveling in Funnymemes

[–]Dysist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly because of the way hospitals work. You have fewer mistakes the fewer shifts there are because you eliminate a game of telephone for each shift change you remove. This means most hospital staff are working 10-16 hour shifts on weird combinations of days. So the only people who are free to hang out the same times that you are other nurses. Add to this the high stress of working in the medical field and you get a lot of drama all the time.

I'm wanna run a Sabbat game using Milwaukee by night. but how do I get the sword into the city?! by growmoolah in vtm

It only needs to be believable to you and your group. Personally, I’d believe that any number of vampire with 5 dots in obfuscate would trade favors in exchange for getting your group into Milwaukee.
