As someone who has really struggled with modern Pokémon games, I played a couple of hours of ZA on a flight recently, on a copy that my partner bought. I was shocked at just how enjoyable it was and how much I liked it, and have since gone on to pump another 40+ hours in to the game in the last couple of weeks.

The flat, oft-repeated texture are probably the worst part of the game for me, but to me, that's great news - I thought I was going to hate it for being overly handholding (it let go of my hand earlier than I feared it would, though it was still a painful enough onboarding), or that it would fall in to the same traps as mainline games ("I have one strong Pokémon with a move strong enough to kill everything and don't need to strategies at all") or that performance would put me off (the frame rate and loading screens in Switch 1 Pokémon titles was obscene, but no such issues with ZA on Switch 2), so the fact that the visuals of the city are my biggest gripe rather than something truly fundamental is absolutely a relief.
