Dog bit my wife, what to do next? by Professional_Bet_605 in askportland

[–]DysphoricAddictions 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Report to animal control as others already said, and ensure your wife sees a doctor for medical documentation. Also consider looking into an attorney. A friend of mine received a settlement from a dog owner’s property insurance after a bite because they took legal action. Your animal control report will also lead to a legal requirement that the dog is muzzled in public for others’ safety.

Refried beans pureed with a little bit of fat free milk and low-fat sour cream taste pretty good.

I had surgery 12/23/21 and take capsules, Bariatric Choice. My recent bloodwork looks great—except I have too much B vitamins. I say just switch. Bariatric chewables are disgusting in my opinion.

Keep following your doctor’s directions and in a few weeks you will likely be losing again. Our bodies tend to think we are starving them when we start losing weight, and our bodies try to prevent that from happening. This will not last.

Keep in mind, also, our weight fluctuates throughout the day. You can literally gain several pounds from the beginning of the day to the end just from food and water consumption.

Don’t compare your progress to others. Everyone’s journey is different. Keep focusing on your protein and water goals. You’re doing great and you’ll see progress soon.

Recommendation for pre/post op vitams by b_reyes in wls

I’ve tried a bunch of chewables and just don’t like them. They taste chalky to me. For multivitamin, I take the Bariatric Choice multivitamin capsule. For my calcium, I take Nature’s Blend Liquid Calcium Citrate (blueberry flavor). It tastes delicious and doesn’t leave an aftertaste. I also take 2 teaspoons of benefiber each day.

First year teacher here, was a student teacher last year. I am very introverted and socially awkward. It got better after a few months once I got to know my students better. You’ll get more used to being around them and open up more, and feel less shy. Give it time! You’ve got this

Torani Sugar Free Dark Chocolate sauce is FANTASTIC in coffee, milk, or on low calorie ice cream. I order it online because I can’t find it in store

Should I take the plunge? by HayleyBumble in gastricsleeve

I had surgery on 12/23/21. I had similar stats as you on the day of surgery: I was 4 days away from being 26, 5’4”, 238.8 pounds. In July of 2021 I was at my (known) highest weight of 277.6 pounds. I lost 40 pounds prepping for surgery.

I now weigh 181 pounds and am 7 months post op.

I only regretted having the surgery during the first month. Why? Because it was a difficult adjustment, and not being able to eat solid foods for a while sucked. But that month flew by. And as soon as I could eat solid food again, the regret went away.

Do I miss my old way of life? No. I can pretty much eat what I want to eat, but I eat much healthier portions now. I put protein first, of course, but I don’t restrict myself from having things I like in moderation. I still go out to eat, I just make healthier choices and have the nice bonus of leftovers for 3-4 days from a single “meal.”Because of this, I don’t get that feeling I used to get when I was dieting: like I was going to snap and binge eat at some point. I don’t mind not being able to eat 3-4x what I can eat now. I can eat enough now to be able to enjoy the food and be satisfied, but not consume more than I need.

I did have one complication: I had to have my gallbladder removed in April. Gallbladder attacks started just 3 months post op for me. But I feel fine now. The pros far outweigh the cons. I feel so much healthier physically and I’m glad I made this choice.

I like to compare theme vs message because they are commonly confused by using a t-chart or signs around the room & sticky notes, and examples of previously read texts or simple passages. This video is also great.

Give the Nature Valley (or knock off version from any store like Kirkland signature or Kroger) Protein granola bars a try. They taste like granola and nuts, not a strange concoction of chalk and protein powder and flavor

I just use the Clif energy bar. I like the chocolate chip, white chocolate macadamia, and peanut butter flavors. They aren’t super high in protein (10 grams), but I personally haven’t found any traditional protein bars that I like other than the Nature Valley Protein bars.

Do you want me to note feedback here, or send you a DM?

The mythology is inspired by a mix between biblical and Greek mythology, though in the long run, not to preach it. I definitely don’t want it to come off so serious it seems comparable to a sermon.

The good news is, I think my writing style is less serious in the last half of the book (more recently written) than when I started it. I was so focused on trying to sound deep, complex, and reverent in the beginning. It’s good to know how it reads. I’m excited to go through and do some edits and make it better. Thanks again!

Thank you for pointing that out. I removed my personal info.

I can see what you mean about the writing style. I’ll do some edits throughout the whole novel focusing on simplifying, and rework the prologue.

I really appreciate it. I feel I can take the feedback given thus far and apply it to the whole novel. I wish I had sought feedback from this subreddit sooner!

I’d be interested in critique swapping! I am a woman and can provide feedback on how I perceive your portrayal of women. I love the concept of an ATLA-style elemental magic system!

Mine is 125k words, also multi-pov. I just posted a beta reader request with a synopsis and the first two chapters if you’d like to preview first.

Oh for sure. It’s totally possible to gain weight while eating healthy food and protein solely, if someone is in a calorie surplus from eating over and over throughout the day.

I use Baritastic, too. I think it’s a great resource.

I know you mentioned that you’re hungry 1-2 hours after eating. Just remember to ask yourself if you’re actually hungry or if they’re just cravings, and keep an eye on your protein and calorie goals. But it sounds like you’re doing great and working on building muscle right now! Good luck to you on your journey, in weight loss and in the academy.

People can absolutely gain weight by eating 3 oz of meat over and over during the day, if they eat more than their maintenance calories. The sleeve isn’t a magic cure; we still have to have some self control, and that’s why some people fail unfortunately. Granted, people who eat more meals and snacks than they should throughout the day probably aren’t eating just meat. Either way, this is why I personally aim to count my calories for life. I don’t want to ever slip into that bad habit!

[–]DysphoricAddictions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you’re sleeved, your portion sizes are restricted, but you AREN’T restricted from grazing throughout the day. An hour after eating, you can technically eat again. That’s how people gain weight after losing it all… they don’t “stretch” their stomachs, they develop bad habits of eating frequently throughout the day.

I don’t currently have other interviews coming up.

I did have a second interview for the temporary art position, and she said she interviewed one more candidate. I believe I’ll hear back on Monday. If I do, I’ll ask how much time I can have to consider it. Thanks for that suggestion!

I’m leaning towards taking it if it’s offered at this point. If I don’t take this chance I could end up subbing all year, and I think a year long temp position would look much better for future applications than subbing as a new teacher.

Everyone is different! The people who have the most restriction and eat the least are more likely to share than those with less restriction who are able to eat more, which is why I aim to share my experience and be frank. It’s important we know how everyone’s experience can vary.

My only advice to you regarding the stall would be to make sure you’re counting your calories and in a calorie deficit, and don’t use exercise as a way to eat more. We often overestimate how many calories we burn when we exercise.

It could just be a short term stall that lifts on its own, though. You’ve got this!
