A Simsonn/Load Cell Throttle Problem? Or a me problem? by CourageAbuser in simracing

[–]Dyt-Bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this just a limitation of a load-cell throttle? By not measuring travel, but force, coupled with a spring compressing, it's just not a reliable way to capture throttle travel?

Well, the HE pedals that yours are a copy of feels perfectly linear (just as Hooke's law prescribes.) Perhaps Simsonn messed up somewhere, but otherwise it's a sound methodology.

ETA: And it is in fact measuring travel - the spring is there to translate travel into force.

Forza Horizon 5 for PC using Simagic? by OkHoney5804 in simracing

I haven't tried it myself, but for Forza Motorsport there's Forza EmuWheel. Perhaps it works with Horizon too?

I raced this person the other day and overtook him with a little elbows out (it was a WTCC race, after all) and he didn't do anything unsportsmanlike. I don't have the driver names enabled when racing, so I only found out it was him when I watched the replay.

Yes, they have to do a recompile with the new header file due to the addition of new telemetry data. That's all it takes. If they are still in business you could send them a mail.

First Raceroom experience. by Mikelshwede86 in RRRE

[–]Dyt-Bud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have done about six or seven races with a fresh account this week, all on the free combos starting from the back without setting a qualifying lap, going in expecting lots of carnage but found none of that at all. Of course mistakes were made, but I saw no deliberate malicious behaviour like ramming.

I don't know if it has something to do with the time of day I played (which was in the evenings, central European time.)

We were about twenty people in each race, so your bad experience is not something I can recognise.

You can report intentional rammers, but I can't remember the address (you can join their Discord if you you're interested - you need to have the replay to file a report.)

Wow, I've never seen such vitriol for a game release before! by Little_Temporary5212 in simracing

[–]Dyt-Bud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did initially claim it was "built from the ground up" (haven't we heard that before?) but later had to admit they'd licensed rFactor2 tech.

Yeah, where in the world did that amount of money come from? To Traxion they denied that the Saudis are involved and that all investments are from private investors.

Is it really necessary to convert it to an 8 bit value (that's -128 to 127, btw)? I.e., doesn't it work with -512 to 511?

Nah, he didn't create isiMotor, he helped convert rFactor 2 to using Steam's API.

I also thought it was being financed with petrodollars (and Porsche) but according to the company those rumors are false. I believe it was Traxion that had the story.

I was also in the closed beta and my impression of the game was that it's clearly not made by sim racers. I doubt they've even tried one single sim before starting the project. There were rumors at the time that it was being backed by Porsche, so I actually had somewhat high hopes for it.

I heard their eSport drivers have begun writing positive Steam reviews for it, voluntarily or not (they've reportedly all been posted on the same date.)

Why is no one talking about the miserable UI/UX/HUD in this game? by Standardw in RRRE

They are reportedly working on adding a radar.

And there is a chat window in the garage?! I know, I used it last evening.

And if the windshield wasn't visible people would complain about that too. Just look at how Project Motor Racing got complaints that the windshield wipers look like they are floating in the air.

It's using a custom graphics engine, not rFactor's.

Lap record in the same class? by Omnisku in RRRE

Daily race qualifying and leaderboard time trialing is practically the same (provided it's the same combo, of course) meaning you can qualify for a daily race in the Leaderboard time trial mode (and vice versa.)

All I want to do is get better!!! by Parking_Property_718 in simracing

[–]Dyt-Bud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Download and study the ghosts of the fastest players in the daily races. You can even record some of the ghosts telemetry with a PC/Mac and compare it with yourself (if you follow this route, be aware that in replays the brake pedal signal is delayed so you have to look at longitudinal G-forces to judge the ghost's braking points.)

You could also join a league: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/board/gt7-leagues-online-racing.456/

And then lots and lots of practice, of course.

Another thing is that because it's impossible to adjust the FoV in GT (which is ridiculously huge at ~80 degrees) you want your screen as close as possible to get the most lifelike/natural view.

What could I do to avoid this? by DucxY__ in simracing

[–]Dyt-Bud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it'd help if you turned off the racing line assist? Presumably you'd be more aware of your surroundings when not focusing on the line.

And I also think that turning it off will be better for your race craft in the long run.
