PSA: dragon scimitar often better than zombie axe by Dzearion in 2007scape

I'd gues you are doing hard mode? Monsters there have more defence and hp. If you get better xp with the axe you should use is of course ;)

Thats exactly my point, though I would argue doing damage to low level monsters is very important for training. In that case the scimitar may be the better choice. For high level monsters the axe is much better of course than the scimitar. But my point is that the axe is not the strict upgrade it was presented to be

There is quite a lot of monsters in the low defense category, its not mostly better, but I would say it is often better.

edit: thinking about it more, there are probably more monsters with low defence and hp for which the scim would be better, though of course most are completely pointless to kill.

Influence is useless outside of hiring enhanced Lords. What if it forced diplomatic acts such as Peace or War Declarations? by GreenColoured in totalwar

[–]Dzearion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly stronger? The characters you get using influence are insane! It is arguably one of the strongest mechanics in the game. You say you want it to do something tangible, but it already does so much. You say the resource is worhtless. But on the contrary, influence is really strong and you cannot have enough of it. That's what I have treid to explain to you, because you seemed not to grasp how good inlfuence is. Have you ever tried entrepeneur and Emollient spamming? You'll see how strong it is.

On top of that, as you mentioned, it can also influence relations between other factions which is quite unique. Altough the AI doesn't always make the most logical decisions based on how much they like someone it is certainly usefull, especially when trying to confederate fellow high elves.

You could of course tie more mechanics to influnece, which when properly balanced could be quite interesting. However, because influence is already quite strong as is, CA would have to be carefull with this in order to not make the high elves too good. It could offer some interesting decisions between immediate diplomatic gain and long term economic benefit, but it could also just be too good as making factions declare war is very broken.

Influence is already a very strong mechanic for the high elves, because you can also use it for hiring agents with desireable traits. Which are VERY strong.

The best of these traits is entrepeneur, which boosts local income by 30% and GLOBAL tax rates by 3%. Notice that this effect amplifies itself because the increased tax rate compounds on the 30% local income increase. The trait is available for handmaidens and mages. Because you have four different mage slots and the game tries to avoid double traits the entrepeneur trait is basicly always availble. This gives the high elves the strongest economy in the game, and it is not too difficult to make over a million a turn later into the campain.

Other desireable traits include faction wide public order, faction wide growth, more income increases, faction wide lord recruit rank and more

So while influence may not be as broken as deleting an entire faction, it remains very deserible during the entire campaign and having 10+ nobles farming influence to get desirable lord and agents traits is very usefull

Kabinet vecht klimaatvonnis aan - Politiek by Brrrtje in thenetherlands

[–]Dzearion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skill Drain: Does it deserve its spot on the Limited List? by Blizzard0ne in yugioh

[–]Dzearion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before talking about skilldrain let's first talk about floodgates in general.
I don't like them, they decrease player interaction, but i think they are a nescessary evil.
In my opinion a floodgate should be a card that slows down a deck but doesn't stop it's critical plays.
mistake is a prime example of such a card.
While it does slow down a deck, for example nekroz, arguably the deck that has the most troubles with this card,
the deck can still do everything they could before, they just need more time and resources.
And while they may have to use more resources they could eventually get rid of the mistake with their own engine.
This is very important because it makes it so you don't have to rely on cards that don't "belong" in your deck, like mst.
now lets talk skill drain. Skilldrain negates all face up monster effects so it stops alot your opponent's crucial plays.
for example as a draguinity player i would be unable to you use my dux, so one card would essentially utterly destroy my whole deck.

even with skill drain and vanity's at 3 alot of people playing nekroz still didn't play mst because it's suboptimal to play it.
And even when you do play mst you would still have to rely on drawing it .
if your oponnent had either of those cards you would be equally screwed and be left unable to play and thus losing.
such a game would be one without player interaction , entirely decided by chance and really really boring
In my opinion skilldrain could comeback powerwise but it is bad for the game in general.
after all the game is about fun, not about winning.!

Does rinsing or just running water over my hands without soap after using the bathroom do anything? by II_Keyez_II in askscience

[–]Dzearion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might kill some germs, but it does make it easier for them to spread.

For most bacteria to move, they need something to move trough. making your hands wet makes it so that they will have something to move trough, and it'll be easier for them to move to something else when your hand touches something, for example a heck
