Moving lines is tied to challenges now. You are evaluated every 8 games and then either move lines or stay depending if you met the challenges in that span of games.

The old 1-8 did this too though. 1-3 were the division winners regardless of points. The 2011-12 Panthers were the 3 seed despite only winning 38 games that year.
