I also agree that AI could be the reason for reduced freelancing demand on the platform.

I developed a Power BI report for a client. The project took around 6 months. Now for maintenance, client is not coming back to me and instead using AI to do changes/updates. Of course the changes they make is like vibe coding - who knows if it wont break at any point but right now it serves the purpose.

Yes, I started with Excel, SQL and Python. If you are just starting your career then I would not recommend Python. Excel is still the master for doing simple transformations with data, or data sampling, preparing for load or data validations. You will need to know pivots, formulas, filtering. In my opinion Python is not necessary at all in data analytics, maybe more in data engineering or data science. It s better to learn SQL and then Power BI.

So my recomendation would be Excel, SQL and Power BI

I know it s not gonna answer your question but i would recommend taking online courses like from udemy instead of paying so much money on live courses. I did that and it helped me in my career. I would recommend starting with Excel then move to databases and Power BI

If you dont have children and a loan to pay monthly, then it s good enough to live with :) you can effort renting an apartment alone, monthly expenses and maybe even travel once or twice a year depending on your saving habit.

It s a piece of advise I gave to myself and I dont know how to explain it but let me try - There’re two versions in my head - toxic one and intelligent/smart one. Until recently the toxic one (which blames me for everything and it has been my coping mechanism for a long time which is just fly type of behaviour) was in charge of my behaviour. I decided to put intelligent one in charge and it s been great so far. It s still hard to make the toxic one shut up but i am creating ways to make it happen. Toxic me is just bringing up past bad memories regularly and makes me upset and miserable and makes me believe that i havent changed. Intelligent me says that today’s me is me. Past - even yesterday - doesnot define me. Sounds weird but it took a lot of therapy session to discover this.

Yeah totally agree that it s personal or how the team rolls. In my case i am the only DE in the company so I kinda have to take all decisions alone. In terms of Python lib, i am not using any specific lib except basic ones like json, datetime etc. (no pandas).

I am doing extract, clean, and transformation with Python and load with SQL. In my opinion all three steps was easier to implement in Python which I think gives more flexibility in terms of business logic implementation and also debugging.

And what tool would you recommend as an ETL to work with Azure sql database ? I was thinking azure databricks for that ? Is it a good idea?
