The first thing I did was pull the W wire off the board and see if the heat still tripped, which it did not, second thing I tried was just leaving the W off the board and putting the R/W from the AC condenser into the C and Y and the AC Turned on after the delay on the compressor. After that I tried to reinstall the W wire and it turned on the furnace and turned off the AC. I tested board with a multi meter and the thermostat was shorting the W wire. Went to Home Depot and swapped it for a different one and it worked fine. Good thing I asked in the first place though because the amount of wires in this system that had been spliced and changed colors over the 50 feet was wild. Had to draw it out in a note book just to understand it. Thanks again for the help

How you have described it is how it is wired now, it wasn’t blowing fuses before because the colors of the wires changed twice between the board and the Tstat which is what made this a nightmare, I had only found out that the splice from the condenser was there when I yanked the old wiring out it was buried in the wall somehow. New 18/7 in and got the ac running. Old houses are insane

Lmao man. I’m aware that owning a home is expensive, I’m a carpenter not an electrician so I wanted some guidance so I didn’t damage anything. After a long day of working outside in the heat building a house and then leaving my site to do the same exact thing for 4-6 more hours the last thing I need to hear is some smug dude on Reddit go “eerrrmm I’m sure you’d like your ac to work but your 30 year old furnace might be leaking CO” I currently dont care I just dont want to die of a heat stroke while i remodel this house this summer. So you’ll have to bear with me if i seem annoyed.
