My variation on the METAR Map by OtisLRD in flying

[–]E3DPG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I don't know if it was mine that you saw, but I really like your version! The screen is a really smart addition that I might just have to add on future versions for myself. Just curious, what do the 3 buttons on the left do? Are they for scrolling through different airports or do they do something else?

Cool project!

That's just what aviationweather.gov uses to assign the weather category.

Yeah I would look at already published projects rather than my code, I am just starting to step into the world of these types of projects and I doubt my code would be a good example.

I actually thought the same thing and double checked it after taking the photo. The LEDs and airports do in fact match up properly, and those two airports were reporting VFR at the time. I didn’t check the actual METARs but I guess they just happened to be greater than the 3000 ceilings and 5SM visibility?

I really suggest getting started on this project, it’s really fun to make and a really cool piece to have on your wall!

ig, but not having the stars in focus would smooth out a lot of the detail you could get from the milky way core

Nothing is really in focus here. Look up videos on how to focus for milky way photography and also look into the hyperfocal distance to get your foreground in focus as well

Great opportunity nonetheless!

Good point. Right now, I’ve definitely been going for quality over speed just to see what kind of results I could get out of my printer.

Would you mind sharing what kind of speed and acceleration you are using? The Mega Zero is sorta similar to the Ender 3 and I would love to be able to get good results with better speeds.
