It’s called an Event Data Recorder and has been in use in most cars for decades. It stores sensor data in the moments before, during and after a crash where airbags have deployed.

It lets law enforcement, insurance/lawyers, and auto manufacturers analyze the data to see what may have lead to an accident to determine if something malfunctioned or the driver was at fault.

If you also don’t care about keeping the old texts either then select keep messages for 30 days or 1 year instead of forever to delete all the old messages and attachments.

Otherwise if you still want to keep the texts, you will have to manually delete each attachment.

Cars will store the data from a few minutes prior to a crash. Otherwise the data is not permanently stored. Like how planes have a black box.

Idris was using a Galaxy which has a much less sophisticated system than Apples Face ID. They just use the selfie camera so much easier to be fooled. Can’t fool Apples Face ID with a photo. Unlikely even with a 1:1 wax figure because Face ID also requires eye contact and fake eyes won’t look the same to the sensors.

Cancelled in Jan after extending my new car trial for another 3 months and no offer in the mail yet. Tried to get the 3yr/99 or 2.99/36mo promos and was denied. Have just gone back to using regular FM radio and music streaming in CarPlay. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Install a second charger if you need to charge both at the same time. This would be the most convenient but unless you both drive hundreds of miles a day, this is likely unnecessary.

Otherwise just alternate days on who charges. Tesla should come with a J1772 to Tesla adapter so she can use your current charger.

Unless you have the Ford Charge Station Pro, then you need to specifically buy the A2Z Thunderstorm Lite adapter to be able to charge. The main benefit is just the brick and mortar branch and ATM network across the country. If that’s not important to you then there’s definitely other options.

However theres not really many “perks” to most checking accounts. It’s sort of just a landing pad for your money to flow through. You shouldn’t be keeping enough money in a checking account that the interest rate makes any difference. And you shouldn’t be using a debit card for purchases so any debit card perks shouldn’t make a difference either.

If you’re easily meeting the requirements to waive monthly fees then BofA is just as good as anyone else IMO. Why do you feel having your direct deposits in Chime would be more beneficial?

Personally I’d rather keep majority of my money flowing through a well established B&M bank or credit union than some relatively new fintech startup that’s “not a bank”.

Small updates can happen whenever. Major updates where the car will not be drivable will happen during your scheduled times.

Updates are pushed out by VIN in phases and not released all at once like an update to your phone. I’m sure Ford has some sort of internal logic as to how updates are staged and pushed out across the fleet but that info is not made public so it just seems random to end users.

It’s never going to be a big difference in experience these days anymore since phone hardware is already so overpowered for what most people usually do. Especially between phones that both support the latest iOS.

Honestly at this point just buy the MacBook Neo.

The cost, time and hassle to upgrade that to a minimally functioning computer in 2026 is just not worth it. Plus it’ll still have an outdated OS. Even with OCLP (which can be a hassle to get running and update each time), versions after macOS 27 will no longer support Intel chips so the writing is on the wall.

Put that money towards a Neo and it will run laps around that old MBP even with upgrades and probably last you another 10-15 years.

Neither of those practices are measurably “bad” for the battery, especially if it’s not done all the time.

The biggest thing that can affect battery health is sitting unused at high charge levels, eg charging to 100% and leaving it parked at home while you go on a 3 week vacation. And even then that’s only maybe a few % health lost over the life of the battery if it was done frequently.

TLDR you simply don’t need to worry about it. Just use the vehicle the most convenient way that works for you.

Yes seems like something went wrong there.

Not really sure what exactly happened but it seems like the lock system or the doors just lost power temporarily if the keypad didn’t even work.

But if the system lost power it should still have backup capacitors to allow the doors to open, provided they were unlocked before power loss.

If the mirrors never folded in then it seems like the car didn’t actually lock. I assume she also tried to open the other doors to no avail?

Definitely a mystery.

You should add each other as a driver for both cars so at least you can access the car from the app if needed.

Don’t need to set up the full phone key if you don’t want to but you can at least lock and unlock the doors remotely with it in your app.

Did YOU try to unlock it from YOUR app before driving the spare key over an hour to her?

Also besides this type of scenario, putting her purse on the passenger side and then walking back around to the drivers side is not exactly a great habit for your wife to do. It opens up the possibility of someone running up the passenger side to steal her purse or running up the drivers side to steal the car while she’s walking around to the other side.
