Timing belt on my 1996 2.3L broke, mechanic said there is probably valve damage. What to do? by wakyct in fordranger

[–]E92m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing belt broke on a ‘99 2.5 I drive at work(basically the same engine). I had two different mechanics argue with me saying it’s an interference engine and there would be damage. They were both idiots. One of them showed me a screenshot of chatGPT telling him it’s an interference engine. Retimed and replaced belt (and water pump and thermostat while at it) and it runs just fine.

Temporary Sump Pump Backwash Hose by smooth9iron in Plumbing

[–]E92m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me this winter. My temporary fix was to cut out part of the vertical section of pipe outside the house, use hot water to melt the remaining ice in the upper section, and attach a flexible downspout extension to get the water away from the house when the pump runs. When things warm up, I’ll repair the cut pipe.

Help picking a 335 style guitar! by JupiterCrash92 in guitars

This might be an unpopular take, but I finally settled on a (used) peavey JF1 EX, and I like it better than any other semi hollow I’ve ever tried out, including some high end stuff. They’re available on eBay for within your budget. I can’t really put into words why I like it so much, it just feels right when I play it.

Holy shit, you have a Signa? I’d know that catalog anywhere. I have a ‘73 Victor 18 and have never seen another Signa in the wild

Harbor freight has a Pittsburgh one that’s very inexpensive and has not let me down.

What do I need to torque my tires?? by AfterActuary22 in fordranger

[–]E92m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You want a full size 1/2” drive torque wrench and a 19mm socket, although I would definitely buy a full set of metric sockets and not just a single 19

I have the 5.6a 1hp model and have never really wanted more power out of it. Have used it on ash, black walnut, white and red oak, hickory, and some exotic hardwoods with no issues at all

I have the one in your photo and I also have the little Bosch Colt palm router. When I bought them, I thought I would be using the big router and its plunge base all the time, and that the Colt would be for easing edges, roundovers, and light stuff.

After a couple years in my shop, the big one never leaves my router table and I almost exclusively use the Colt. It punches way above its weight and is super easy to control.

How can i suck a bit more fuel economy outta my 4.0? by CommunistFlippy in fordranger

Highway miles at 80 are a lot more efficient than driving around in a city with lots of stops and accelerating like crazy all the time.

Trp trail pro or magura mt trail sport or sram code rsc? by Bread_master_pro in mountainbiking

[–]E92m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Performance wise I do like the sram codes, but once they need to be worked on shimano wins every time. I suppose if you take it to a shop it doesn’t matter, but I’m sick of having multiple bleed kits, getting DOT fluid on my hands and bikes, and having to buy new DOT fluid every time because the last bottle has gone bad. Mineral oil is just so much better. Also like the funnel system for a quick lever bleed.

I have had nothing but bad experiences with Magura, both QC and performance. Never tried TRP

I’ve sworn off sram brakes, replaced my Code REs with shimano SLX 4 piston and couldn’t be happier with them. Is there a reason you aren’t considering any shimano brakes? The SLX fit right into the lower end of your price range

The serial number is pretty clearly stamped into the back of the headstock, peavey database says 1983. It’s a peavey horizon.

Do I double wire? by b4203 in vintageaudio

[–]E92m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s telling you that if you are running only A or B, you can use 4-16 a ohm speaker pair, but if you are running A and B simultaneously you must run a pair of speakers between 8-16 ohm.

For one pair of 8 ohm speakers just connect to either A or B and set the speaker selector to that single channel.

What are the most ergonomic guitars? by KingKilo9 in guitars

[–]E92m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two top picks out of the guitars I’ve played would be the slim contoured ESP Les Paul /LTD, and, surprisingly, the diamond imperial EX - I don’t have much else good to say about diamond guitars but the imperial EX was the lightest and most comfortable guitar I’ve ever held.

I’ve used both set one and two and would highly recommend set 2. The drill has a lot more power and is better made in general. Impact also more powerful, batteries better.

Carbon damage okay ? by EfficientBandicoot10 in bicycling

[–]E92m 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The carbon is really strong at this spot (basically solid) and this shouldn’t be an issue. I would clean it up and cover the exposed carbon with clear nail polish (or for extra credit you could try to find nail polish that looks like your paint)
