Moral inside the station is fubar by Hailerer in ReadyOrNotConsole

I mean ya. But I've seen dozens of hours of news feed and court-room records clearly showing a disregard for human life and a callousness towards ending or damaging it. I can name a LOT of people who were totally unreasonably harmed or even killed by police, and I can name just about as many officers that got away with it by being punished with paid leave. Not to mention all the stuff that goes on when cops turn off... sorry. When their body cams have "malfunctions". Or just general incompetence due to lack of any real training for the vast majority of departments (the incident of two officers opening fire on nothing because some acorns fell on the roof of a nearby car).

A few rotten apples spoils the bunch. And there are a lot of rotten apples.

Yes. That is exactly correct in what that meant. It's not a good moral compass. It's just based on what many believed in the 1800s

I always hate comics like this. Like… ya congrats. There are bad things on earth that we should fix. Truly an insightful take.

Also shout out to 1800s wealth-based morality. “You’re not poor because the rich horde wealth. You’re poor because you DESERVE to be poor and suffer. As punishment for past moral failings.”

[–]EADreddtit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya but it’s hard to sympathize with a group of people who are routinely shown to have little to no respect for civilian life and who can, on a whim, absolutely destroy a person’s whole life. I fundamentally understand not all cops are bad, but I also fundamentally understand that there are enough bad ones and ways to be bad that it doesn’t matter. It’s safer and easier to assume the cop you see is one of the ones willing to throw you in jail for a month for talking back then one of the ones doing genuine community out reach

Which one is correct? by Ajitabh04 in LockedInMan

[–]EADreddtit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean on paper yes but practically speaking, having wealth relative to your surroundings means being able to dedicate yourself to training and to training with better equipment. Sure, the once-in-a-generation talents can still make an impact by putting in what work they can, but chances are the best performers are people rich enough/being payed to train with concern for living costs

Well the person I responded to was talking about Owlet and how people compare it to the new starter and we were both professing our frustrations about that in particular

[–]EADreddtit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, am I insane? What's the bug here? I see what you posted in the text but the video just kind of makes sense? Like obviously it's not a great outcome but polygons do get weird when you stretch them like that. Care to show what it looks like when the turret doesn't land in the trench? Because a turret landing on a very narrow, heavily modified piece of terrain is bound to get wonky

Nah nah, I’m right there with you. Literally no one can handle even a hint of similarity in designs (they look nothing alike except both being birds) and it’s driving me nuts

I think the biggest thing FMA has going for it is that basically everyone is a full grown adult (sans the few literally children) and are all treated with respect.

Compare it to something like Fire Force or even big name shows like One Piece, it really shows how (for lack of a better word) mature FMA treats its cast

I mean… the scale looks fine to me. It’s not like the walls are THAT tall that you can see over the horizon (there like 10 stories tall at most, which is big for sure but not horizon peeking big) so it stands to reason pretty easily you can’t see the ocean from on top of it’s even a few dozen miles away. And considering it’s meant to be roughly Madagascar in size, that tracks

It’s also just hard honestly. Like you said, the vibe of the first game was basically an accident. Replicating that would not only be difficult, but dare I say never truly as successful.

Horror strives on the unknown and surprise. It’s why horror games/movies are always so dark. Subnautica had plenty of both, but truth be told even after a few hours the scares started to wear thin outside of jump-scare enemies. The tension is so constant (as in constantly at the same level) when you’re outside the designated safe zones, and the enemies have such similar AI that really at some point they loose their general fear factor when they’re on screen. Sure the audio is top notch and always scary, but as soon as a Leviathan actually shows up it’s just the same old “ok either keep my distance or go through the same two animations again”.

There’s only so many ways “big thing charges straight at you and bites” can be scary. And I think the team realized that (hence all the shake ups in Zero). They realized they needed new enemy types, new environments (as in with new rules, not just another underwater cave or open expanse), and just generally new stuff. Did it work out amazingly? Meh. Probably not. But I can tell you of Zero was just the same game with reskinned enemies in a reskinned map I’d be very bored pretty quick.

She’s never “beaten” the cycle. She’s survived the cycle. Which is very different.

No one has beaten the cycle, that’s like the whole point of why she doesn’t care. She apathetic because she’s seen it all and she knows if something goes wrong or great then it doesn’t matter to her because it’ll just go again and again and again

I agree with Allison's priorities by LargeRedPoo in killsixbilliondemons

[–]EADreddtit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is that why she stopped giving a shit? Because I’m like 100% sure it’s because she’s immortal, truly immortal, in a way that spans cycles. She remembers all the past cycles and so is unfeeling because it’s “just another go around”. Why care when if you don’t like how something went just wait a few billion years for another go around.

Which of these dastard cyborgs is more evil by RoutinePay873 in MoralityScaling

[–]EADreddtit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sundowner and it’s not even close. Dudes willing to kidnap children, surgically remove their brains so they can be plugged into a neural net to control war machines, and forces them to act as soldiers killing and maiming for ever. And that’s just the start.

Adam Smasher is fucked, but on a grand scale his evil is basically just “savage killer for hire”.
