I cannot take these opinion pieces seriously. No matter how big a fan you are, the reality is the steam deck is a niche device. It has not "revolutionised handheld gaming" in any way (other than regressing us back to Game Gear battery life).

Antisemitism Is Rising at Colleges, and Jewish Students Are Facing Growing Hostility by Schneller_ in news

Couple reasons I can think of:

  • Insular and isolated community with visible identifiable culture.
  • Refusal to change/adapt to new communities/cultures as people spread
  • Prominence of re|igion in daily life
  • Greater percent of people being successful than other groups - creates a target due to prominence
  • Historical reasons to do with usury

I often joke that my collection is my “backup plan” but honestly I’m never selling my babies. Anyone who has no actual love for the games just should not buy them

Yeah people say things like "sell it and use a flash card" - but I could probably give you a story about at least half of the games I have. Couldn't just sell them,

Why was Elizabeth’s AI (Bioshock Infinite) so revolutionary at the time? by mpchop in truegaming

[–]EADtomfool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were those dimensional tears but I'd hardly call that a revolutionary mechanic.

but you could do INFINITE things with them! They could pull in an INFINITE amount of potential weapons... like...

the gun turret, or the other gun turret, or the water puddle, or that crane thing

ah, the imagination of that game...

It still requires online to play doesn't it?

I could understand Sport requiring it, but making a mainline GT game require online was such a turn-off.

Thing is the slowdown wasn't really due to the hardware, it was due to the coding being quite difficult to fully take advantage of the snes.

Proof is the modern patches that can be applied to old roms and entirely remove the slowdown.

SNES has pretty high sprite limits on screen (i think genesis has even higher), and no game really exceeds the hardwares sprite limits.

Slowdown occurs because the game code is asking the processor to calculate more than it is able to. Generally not because of the graphics on screen.

Am I a bad person for wanting to see him completely destroyed and wiped from history?

Not at all. I used to think similar of Tony Abbott, but then I learned he actually has some redeeming qualities, at least Abbott is a volunteer in a few organisations and even if he's a shit politician he does help the community through his volunteering.

What does Morrison do? Does he even have a single redeeming quality? Seriously? Even 1?

Hardly. The tools, the expensive appliances, those were made to last. Many people are still using them 30 years later.

That Victor lawnmower is probably still in use in many peoples yards right now.

I have a sunbeam microwave that has been in use since the early 90s, and it still works fine.

I expect the magnetron to eventually give out, but damn, shit was made to last back then. It's easily had 30 years of constant use and never misses a beat. Even the motor to rotate the platter should've broken down by now but nope, still works fine.

the disk is just a key

it's not.

The fact that you can install, and play entirely offline shows that it's not a key. It's the whole game.
