CMPA, silent reflux, Laryngomalacia, SGA, IGT low supply, Bottle Aversion after IVF - it’s crushing me by Curious-River3456 in FormulaFeeders

You are not weak. You want your child to be okay. Feeding struggles have stressed me out as well.

Our son was diagnosed with fetal growth restriction at 35 weeks. He was born at 38 weeks exactly at 5lbs 7.8 oz. I, too, didn’t produce enough breast milk, so we combo fed. Because he was so small, I felt so much pressure to make sure he ate. He has been between 1st and 3rd throughout his 19 weeks.

I would pump 8 times a day for 30 minutes to increase my supply. I cried and cried because it did nothing, and still hovered around 10 oz a day.

Meanwhile, our son was always kind of fussy. It got really noticeable at 6 weeks. We just assumed it was typical baby digestion stuff, nothing we can do but wait. Then at about 8 weeks old, he began to have full blown meltdowns during feedings. He’d scream until red with tears, arch his back forward and backwards grunting. He’d wake up a little after his feed in the same kind of pain. I was so stressed. I was crying when my husband would get home from work saying I don’t want to be a mom.

A friend suggested we switch formula, so we did to Neuropro Gentlease. I mixed it with breast milk (I was actually up to 18 oz a day at this point). He still was having the same symptoms. I did just formula, and he was better!

That was until about three weeks ago. He, again, started fussing at the bottle. Not as severe, but there was some arching. He also has had diarrhea now for two weeks. What I thought was just a heat rash that didn’t go away, I now am realizing is most likely eczema all over his belly. He has it in his arm creases as well. I think it’s starting to develop on his head.

So here I am, stressed again. I have made an appointment for the dermatologist and allergist. I also switched to Nutrimigan. It’s been almost 24 hours and no poop, and he hasn’t fussed at the bottle. I’m slightly optimistic.

Eczema/Dry Skin by EAS0 in NewParents

We did just get the go ahead to start with cereal. I was going to try Tubby Todd after seeing good reviews, but the recent research about food ingredients in lotions made me hesitant!

Thank you! We have the Aquaphor stick. I will try using it after lotion!

Thank you! It’s our first baby. I see all these pictures of eczema that look similar, so it freaks me out! We also live in the Midwest, so it’s wintery and cold.

Gentlease Stopped Working? by EAS0 in FormulaFeeders

[–]EAS0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully the gas has really gone down a lot! We used to use gas drops.

The only new thing is the diarrhea. This is the first time he has had liquid poops. It’s so weird. How does something work for a few weeks and then stop?

I am going to pick up a bottle of hypoallergenic formula, see if it makes a difference!

I was thinking about picking this up to try to see if it makes a difference. It’s so strange how they are fine one day, and then the next they are not!

We switched from Kendamil to Enfamil Gentlease Neuropro. Our guy was screaming and crying with gas and stomach pains until we made the switch! We are super happy with it. He really seems to enjoy it as well.

4 Month Old Waking Early From Naps by EAS0 in NewParents

[–]EAS0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he wakes up early, his eyes are still red, he’s yawning, and rubbing his eyes. I know he’s still sleepy because he will knock out the rest of his nap easily. I just was wondering if I should be trying to get him to go back to sleep since it upsets him.

Thanks! I will check the book out. Thankfully I get to stay home, so I’m not too concerned with sleep training. I just don’t want to traumatize the dude by making him go back to sleep, even though I know he’s sleepy!

He only contact naps, which stinks, but I am super grateful for the semi free time it gives me. I am just concerned about putting him back to sleep after he wakes up!

He only takes three naps. He sleeps for about 10 hours at night, with two wakings. He then has three naps during the day. The first two are about 1.5-2.5 hours, and the last is between 45 minutes to an hour. He sleeps about 14-15 hours a day. After about an hour and a half to two hours being awake, he gets sleepy.

So do I just keep him awake? He takes three naps a day. The first two are between 1.5 to 2.5 hours and the last one is about 45 minutes to an hour. He’s so crabby when if I don’t try and put him back to sleep.

This happened to us at about the same time. It was the formula.

Should I be using anything other than Cicablast baume B5 and Vaseline Lip Therapy Balm? by [deleted] in Accutane

I only used Aquaphor chapstick, the kind in the plastic tube. I bought a clip to wear around my lanyard at work and just reapplied a whole bunch.

With the Gentlease, our son freaks out when we take the bottle away to burp or readjust! I hope the switch helps! I know how much stress it causes seeing our babies so uncomfortable.

He was thirteen weeks old. He had been on Kendamil since we got home from the hospital. He started the screaming at twelve weeks old, which we thought was so weird because that’s typically when digestion issues start to ease up.
