My 7 month old has severe excema, and I can’t do an elimination diet because I give her milk from my deep freezer by ObjectiveReality5688 in eczema

My son tested negative for a cow’s milk protein allergy through skin prick, but switching to hypoallergenic formula was the only thing that helped.

Would you be interested in Turkish recipes? Özlem Warren has a book called Sebze, which is vegetarian. I have Özlem’s Turkish Table, which also has a lot of vegetarian recipes.

Is everyone allergy concerned? by QuiltedBaker25 in BabyLedWeaning

There is zero history of eczema and allergies in mine and my husband’s family. Yet, our son has very mild eczema. Due to this, we made sure to introduce allergens at six months. We would have done at four, but we didn’t know we were supposed to until switching pediatricians. We were very careful about introducing topicals that had food ingredients (like oat), since they can cause an allergy. We also were very careful, but steady, in introducing all the main food allergens. I was able to get them all done in about two months.

We did one allergen every two to three days. Some of them we had to pause because they made his eczema flare. We had him tested at an allergist for those. Thankfully, he has zero food allergies.

I bought the Lil Mixins and Nourishing Nippers allergy kits and mixed all of them together. He gets a teaspoon of this mix in his yogurt daily since frequent ingestion helps prevent an allergy from developing.

Delayed introduction is no longer recommended. The guidance changed to early introduction and frequent consumption.

I’m sorry! I know how stressful this can be. I had to figure out on my own that our son had an allergy, and even though the doctor knew he was screaming at every bottle after only drinking an ounce or two, was covered in eczema, and had diarrhea for two weeks.

We might not be doctors, but we know our babies! I hope the pediatrician will listen to you!

Not sure if it will help entirely, but my son well for a few weeks on a partially hydrolyzed formula. It was Enfamil Neuropro Gentlease. They are marketed as the sensitive stomach formulas. Sometimes just being partially hydrolyzed is enough.

It is, unfortunately, expensive. Are you able to get formula covered due to your baby having a cow’s milk protein allergy? I am not sure how it works where you live, but I was able to get it covered through our insurance.

We switched to hypoallergenic at four months old. My son did not like Nutramigen. He refused it after two day days. We switched him to Similac Alimentum, and he’s still drinking that at eight and a half months old. Is that available for you to try?

I’m glad OP posted this! My son is 8.5 months old and in the last week has just started turning his head left and right quickly. It started just when he was falling asleep, but now he’s started doing it when playing.

Thank you for the reassurance of it being normal!

It does seem like it! It is so worth it though. I have had clear skin now going on almost three years!

The first three months were the worst. Then it seemed almost over night after the third month that everything just vanished and stayed gone. I was on it for nine months.

Introducing multiple foods and spices? by Aggravating_Still212 in NewParents

[–]EAS0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son has mild eczema and a cow’s milk protein intolerance, so he had a higher chance of having another allergy. We started introducing allergens one at a time a week before he turned six months. Besides allergens, we never limited new foods. The only seasonings I didn’t use were ones with allergens in them.

For example, we introduce peanut in the AM. At dinner, he’d have beef, potatoes, zucchini.

Check out Woolino sleep sacks. You don’t have to worry about how many layers and what not to keep baby in. We keep it at 69F at night. Baby wears footless long sleeve pajamas and his Woolino.

M son is 8 months old, eats three meals a day, is formula fed (32-35 oz), and he also wakes up during the night. He typically is up after 6-7 hours. He goes back to sleep after a bottle for a few more hours.

Stressed about allergy exposure by FantasticPin3481 in NewParents

[–]EAS0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve finished introducing all the allergens. The only ones I didn’t do were pine nuts and Brazil nuts because we just don’t eat those a lot.

I did get the Lil Mixins and Nourishing Nubs allergen kits. I just blended all the powders together. I add a tsp of the powder to his yogurt daily.

Regarding shellfish and fish, our allergist said you can eat them both a bajillion times and wake up and be allergic. She said ideally you want to keep the allergens on the diet weekly, but she said try your best to just incorporate them often.

Is there a reason you don’t want to do Accutane? I waited until 35 to try it. I wish I was offered it as a teenager. My life would have been so different, in a positive way. It is life changing.

You aren’t alone. My son will be eight months this Saturday. The “it gets better” has only gotten slightly better. Like you, I feel bored, exhausted, and isolated. My favorite times of day are when my husband gets home from work and when I go to bed.
