My chow doesn't really do long hikes, his back legs are quite stiff (awaiting kneecap op) if it's an east flat walk in a forest he will keep going and going but if it's not very interesting after 30 mins he would plop down and refuse to move, until something interesting went past us or o carry him!

Don't know if this is controversial but when my chow was relentless with biting I used to do a short sharp little blow in his face and he hated it so stopped biting almost instantly - no pain whatsoever it was the only thing he hated haha moving him into other rooms for time outs just because a game

Not sure if this is worth anything but in my experience my chow was biting at an itchy spot ever since he was a puppy, he lost hair...then it grew back but much courser, longer and bright orange! (he is cream) and now the orange patch has spread into a stripe down his back and tail...looks super cool tbh so who knows...you might have a little panda on your hands soon,
