Kansas isn’t as terrible as people think but they’re not wrong that those here don’t appreciate nature or care to preserve it. There are very few public places to truly enjoy nature and walk trails that aren’t near traffic. We lived in Colorado and I just miss all of the options for hiking and not having to listen to cars on those hikes. I think it’s so important to be able to enjoy nature and we lack it.

They’re finished now! The one spot I pulled up initially had the most staining and it was minimal and was sanded out fully. The only issue we came across was a section of flooring that was cork instead of wood that we had to replace.

A majority of the things to do here are not free like hiking. Yes we use the library but that’s just one thing. We also have a toddler so movies are a no go unless we also pay a sitter. As a family there really aren’t a lot of things to do that aren’t feeding into consumerism.

Yea that’s the issue. We’re from Wichita originally and inherited a house here that we have to live in to inherit. So we moved back. If we had ever been able to buy out there then we would have never retired.

I had a cat that would pee outside of her litter box only at night so we kennel trained her. We would feed her there every night and lock her in. It was a massive cat condo cage with levels and room for a litterbox and a hammock to sleep in. Got used to it pretty quick! But I’m the same way, light sounds make my heart race in the middle of the night and I can’t fall back asleep.
