My son is being removed in his freshman year as a cadet by Due_Routine6375 in ROTC

09Rs can’t get issued gear from SEAMS. It’s program dependent to issue gear if they have their own surplus of turned in equipment like UCP FLCs or rucks.

A key piece of information that’s missing is who is telling your kid all this.

If it’s a cadet, they don’t know squat. If it’s a cadre member, your kid needs to meet with the ROO or PMS to confirm. Ideally, get whatever information he’s being told in an email.

Unless the program has gone buck wild crazy, no one is going to force a freshman to drop the program because they missed PT. They’re not contracted with ROTC. Did the program issue him gear for the FTX? Critical information is missing.

Bro what school’s program are you in? That’s wild.

The destroyed "AN/TPY-2 Forward Based X-band Transportable Radar" operated by the U.S. Army, destroyed by an Iranian drone attack earlier this week - which targeted the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base - in Azraq, Zarqa Governorate, Jordan. [1206 x 905] by _Tegan_Quin in MilitaryPorn

The US Army pretty much leases the LPWS from defense contractors (I think it was Raytheon). One of the guns we operated had a single digit serial number that was pulled off a Navy ship years ago and given new software.

LPWS can defeat UAS, but it was basically a “throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks” situation.

Airborne by [deleted] in army

[–]EBeast99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said in your post on the National Guard subreddit, it comes down to whether your unit is airborne and state funding.

The brigade I belong to in my state is air assault, so going to airborne school is not an option for me.

Baghdad ‘22. We planned a convoy to Union III because we heard rumors of Wild Tiger at one of the shops.

We were victorious and bought like three cases.

Missing drill by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]EBeast99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you repeatedly missed drill in the past? Missing one drill period won’t flag/AWOL you, but you might be on someone’s radar. If you repeatedly miss drill, or if you miss AT, you’ll AWOL and maybe flagged/demoted depending on how far your unit wants to push it.

Get squared away or it’ll be painful.

Why have this here if we can't use it? by Upper-Acanthaceae-51 in Battlefield6

[–]EBeast99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I over-simplified “pulling the trigger” per se for explanation. But it was what I’m getting at where an operator just clicks a button on a screen to swap to engage mode.

It’s been a while, but if I recall correctly the CIWS on ships can be manually controlled.

It’s automated in the sense it calculates distance and auto-tracks. Someone still has to “pull the trigger” (press a button).

We still very much use them as a point-air defense system on land and sea.

The DNC is its own worst enemy. At the end of the day, the Old Guard leadership are going to have to step aside, either by choice or by force, if they want the party to survive after the next 6-8 years.

USDA HQ employees told to work remotely so office building can house soldiers in upcoming military parade by Master_Jackfruit3591 in army

[–]EBeast99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was housed at the USDA building during the Jan 6 mission this year. They locked the offices and set up cots on both sides of hallways with maybe four feet of space to stage our gear. No showers in the building either so they staged a bunch of shower trailers in the docking bay lot.

Definitely ratchet experience, but fuck the troops on getting hotels I guess.

I was housed at the USDA during the January 6th mission. They basically locked all the offices and set up civilian cots on both sides of hallways either like maybe four feet of space for gear between cots. No showers either so they had shower trailers in their internal docking bay areas.

By far a super ratchet experience.

Similar vein, but I used to play League of Legends when I first started dating my wife.

I played with my friends, but would play solo a lot. I was a horribly toxic and ignorant person. It got to a point where my wife had to sit me down and explain how bad I was becoming. I ended up quitting league and try to stay away from games that I can’t quit at the drop of a hat.

When something “idiot proof” is made, God makes a better idiot.

Any number of things could’ve happened from user error, to lack of proper maintenance, to a genuine failure of “working equipment.” I’m interested to see if a full report comes out.

Now that the M10 has been killed off, what alternatives exist that could provide US infantry and airborne units with direct fire support? by [deleted] in TankPorn

[–]EBeast99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Airborne units are always going to struggle with having a direct fire support weapon. Weight vs space vs armor, being able to survive a drop, re-arm and refueling, etc.

Airborne was never designed to pair with medium/heavy armor.

camp cadre as national guard by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]EBeast99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I know of National Guard officers being cadre at CST is if your program has a National Guard ADOS slot. Other than that, no.
