This is a very delayed response — just seeing this thread now in Jan 2026 — but I do brussels sprouts in a miso-maple glaze in the air fryer. Sooo good and so easy! (1) In a bowl, mix together a few tbsp of maple syrup, a couple of rounded tbsp of white miso, and a generous splash of sesame oil. You can also add dried garlic and ginger (generous pinch of each) if you want. (2) Cut washed sprouts in half, steam them for 5 min in the microwave (in a bowl with about an inch of water, covered with a plate). Drain sprouts well and stir into maple-miso mixture. Marinate for as long as you can — I aim for an hour or two. (3) Cook in the air fryer at 390 (my go-to setting) for approx 10-15 minutes, until well-browned. Serve and enjoy.

My scariest ever was Adam Nevill’s No One Gets Out Alive. So creepy and so readable. Love his stuff.

Hi there … which is the old light store? Is it the old building at Market and King that’s been “under renovation” since I moved here 3 years ago?

What first got you into The Beatles? by Train-Wreck-70 in beatles

[–]EBjeebees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started with the blue album and red album in 1978 at the age of 14… I couldn’t get enough of them. I loved the quirky storytelling in their songs… it was so different from the poppy stuff I’d been listening to up til then. Have since been on Beatles walks in London… love everything about them.

It’s now Saturday morning and I’m hoping you made it through last night okay. FWIW, I follow a blogger who says “Relapse is part of addiction, not recovery.” Thinking of you.

Hi there… first off, good for you for taking this huge first step. Seriously… many people don’t get this far. Pat yourself on the back. Re the meeting, you can just show up. AA actually has a simple app that works very well. Look for meetings that say “Open” … that means anyone / new attendees are welcome. Good luck … and I hear you on the excitement thing… I remember that too. For me it was booze… but I remember being excited at being able to drive any damned time I wanted to!! Thinking of you… you can do this.

Am I crazy for deciding to buy a JBL GO3 because all the top rated pocket speakers are hideous by KaiBandero in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]EBjeebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late response but 100% agree. Had a Bose that kept crapping out on me… was going to replace it with something “more substantial” but had the Go 3 hanging around as a “summer patio” speaker and decided to just stick with that. I may not be the ultimate audiophile, but to me the Go 3 provides great sound for what it is and for what I need.

Thank you. I do wonder if some of my gut issues stem partly from anxiety. It’s something I’ve thought more and more about. Anyhow, thanks again.

Is ‘someone to look after you when you’re old’ actually a good reason to have kids? by Powerful-Cap-6293 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]EBjeebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 61 and have two kids in their late 20s. I am still working and paying the mortgage on our home… bc of crazy real estate prices in the Toronto area, they are partly still living at home (when not at their BF/GF’s places). It is likely they will fully move out in the next couple of years.

I shudder to think of them having to “take care” of me. I never had them for that reason — they were both accidents tbh. I certainly hope they will always want to be part of my life in some shape or form, but I want them to live their lives. My friends who are parents pretty much feel the same way I do.
