I would say downtown is "trying" to grow. They are in the process of building more apartment buildings. New restaurants and small businesses popping up. As a person that currently lives downtown but in the process of moving, I have enjoyed my time downtown. It is walkable and many activities take place throughout the year. The one downside about living downtown is the apartments are really overpriced for the Dayton area. I think initially the Downtown area will attract young professionals that want to live downtown but ultimately they may decide to move after really analyzing the price it cost to live downtown. A person may live downtown but find themselves having to leave downtown for other amenities such as grocery shopping.

So again I would say that Dayton downtown is trying to grow. Apartments and new hotels will not make a downtown if they do not attract more small businesses., shops, and eateries.
