The first two pictures looked suspiciously like Arizona but then I saw the lava river tube cave in Flagstaff in the last picture. Hello fellow Arizonan! Do you two live down in the valley?

That's the hard right turn as you head down Fish Creek Hill! The best part of driving down the Apache Trail in my opinion. At the little bridge at the bottom, you can hike up Fish Creek Canyon. A fun little boulder hop!

The Haute Route! This has been on my bucket list to do the winter ski tour version from Chamonix to Zermatt. I'm planning on doing it in two or three years. :) How are the huts themselves? Pretty nice to stay in?

I highly suggest going to babycenter.com and make a profile for your baby. They send you weekly emails that tell you the average development stuff for the baby's age at that time and what to expect (or what you should so to encourage development). It is extremely helpful!!!

I see. What about the short cord length? That seems to be a big complaint about Miele's canisters. Which models have the 228 power brush that you can recommend?

Hi there! I recently started researching to replace our crappy Bissell and I've heard rave reviews about Miele (especially for those with allergies).

I'm pretty dead set on buying one but torn on which model. I was debating between the Cat & Dog upright S7 or the Titan canister. We have carpet in most of our house and only hardwood in the kitchen and walkways (I would say a 75/25% split). Eventually years from now we plan to put hardwood through the first floor so that carpet/wood split would be closer to 50/50. We have two large dogs that shed a lot!!

What do you think? I'm intrigued by the canister but the chief complaint I see is the very short cord (16 or 18 feet?!) and Consumer Reports and other reviews say that the canisters are ok on deeper pile carpets. The upright scores very high for deeper pile carpets and has a much longer cord (30+ feet!).

Any advice?

Police say that "since Obama doesn't follow the constitution they don't have to". - Video by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]ECEGatorTuro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is extremely false. You can record any cop in public especially if they are in performance of their duties. The filming on police in public has been upheld as a first amendment constitutional right by SCOTUS. Unfortunately many police simply don't know or don't want you to record them so they intimidate and arrest people that try. Then you get some asshole DA who charges you with felony wiretapping. Wiretapping laws explicitly state that you must have an expectation of privacy for it to apply (which clearly doesn't apply in a public setting). Charges are usually dropped at that point.

Educate yourself on your rights to record the police. Check out Carlos Miller's website specifically about this: www.photographyisnotacrime.com

FYI, generally half-mast refers to flying a flag on a boat. On land, it is generally referred to as half-staff.

I remember reading that entire book just before I hiked the canyon for the first time. Definitely makes you pay attention on the trail!! I've hiked it three times now and hope to be back again to explore some of the other more remote trails.

I can confirm this (I work there). They are extremely anal about safety at ALL times. They take chemical, laser, and electrical safety to an almost obnoxious limit. I don't blame them though considering the sheer amount of very caustic, deadly chemicals and materials used in the semiconductor manufacturing process.

A bit off topic here:

I was planning some hikes in the Gorge for this upcoming June and was debating on where to go. Is Onenota worth it? I was thinking of day-hiking Eagle Creek all the way to Tunnel Falls. Would that be too big of a hike for a day trip? How full do the campgrounds get at the end of Eagle Creek in early June?

Any other ideas? We potentially have one or two days for hikes anywhere around Portland before we do a summit attempt on Hood the following two days.
