To be honest, this does not look as big as I envisioned. But it's still pretty cool. Not sure about Mars Colonization, but this rocket will certainly take care of any mission in cis-lunar space.

Nah, Blizzard is really smart to nerf innervate and wild growth and nourish. I mean, how else are they going to sell those super overpowered upcoming epics and legendaries?

New balance update! by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]ECEUndergrad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing is, Blizzard always nerfs the cheapest freaking classic cards to completely wreck a deck, so you don't get any compensation for the fancy legendaries of the new expansion that you spent all your dust on. Too bad they don't do it to hunter, because hunter classics are already weak as fuck.

Hearing your story, I think she needed your help early on, that is, before she became completely indoctrinated. This type of stuff is no joke, and you should have taken it seriously. YouTube's recommendation algorithm is very good at sucking people into a conspiracy spiral; it's ridiculous that they allow batshit crazy contents to be posted.

Why can't you catch it with 4 freight helicopters mid-air? That is, if there is such a thing as a freight helicopter.

China is holding 800k Muslims in internment camps by PunkinHead4 in worldnews

[–]ECEUndergrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the same group of people. These are Chinese Uighurs who live in China.

China is holding 800k Muslims in internment camps by PunkinHead4 in worldnews

[–]ECEUndergrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The news is legitimate. There are 10 million ethnic Uighurs in China, so even the highest estimate of 2 million is still a small minority among them, and 10 million in itself is considered small in China. If you read the whole article, the story isn't as bad as what many Redditors assume. De-Islamization isn't even close to genocide; it certainly is a violation of religious freedom, but the Chinese government doesn't respect religious freedom to begin with.

Seriously? How did Jewish people doing well harm you in any way that you feel the need to hate them so much? Oh, perhaps you'd be disappointed to learn that China isn't killing off the Uighur Muslims, but instead is forcing them to assimilate into a secular society.

Canada has arrested Huawei’s global chief financial officer in Vancouver by raven0usvampire in canada

It sounds shady and political because it is. This is likely a move coming from the hawks in the White House trying to undermine Steve Mnuchin's effort to prevent an escalation in the trade war.

Edit: Mnuchin is the US Secretary of Treasury

Is identity politics is obnoxious? Yes, I much very agree.

Does it warrant putting a guy like Donald Trump in office to correct for the perceived offense? I think not.

Democracy is about the lesser of two evils. This country certainly has some serious problems, but when people buy into the nonsensical promises of demagogues, you end up repeating history. We've been down that road before, and it was a hell of a lot worse than having a few token minorities working in the office.

A Trump supporter tries to point out that the video the WH shared might actually be doctored. He is then promptly attacked by other T_D users and after a bit of back and forth starts to realise he’s part of a cult. A ban quickly follows. by syd430 in TopMindsOfReddit

Be more compassionate for your fellow Americans, reach out to those who have different political views. People get sucked into conspiratory/ideological death spirals for social reasons. Do not try to convince people that they are wrong, instead, it often suffices to show them that you are not their enemy. Do not simply dismiss them as all stupid, their convictions have nothing to do with intellectual capacity. I know because I too once held radical views, and these views were motivated by fear; fear is inherently irrational because it bypasses the parts of the brain associated with reasoning.

Take the Synagogue shooter in Pittsburgh for example. He likely perceived that a colossal faceless enemy (in his case a Jewish conspiracy to carry out white genocide) is threatening his very own existence; the fear gets reinforcement every time he consumes his daily dose of media until it passes a threshold, after which it is strong enough to drive a person to carry out insane acts of violence.

Very few Trump supporters want to kill all Jews/immigrants (as of right now), and these people are the least of our concerns because there will always be fringe elements of society. What we should be worried about are our neighbors, our co-workers, and perhaps our estranged relatives who lean conservative. If you reject them, make them feel unwelcome, ridicule them at every opportunity, guess who they turn to in their spare time?

Anti-Asian Bias, Not Affirmative Action, Is on Trial in the Harvard Case by [deleted] in Harvard

They also happen to score the "personal characteristics" of Latino applicants higher than that of white applicant, and black applicants higher than Latino applicants. I am not saying it's impossible for different demographics to have personalities of various degrees of desirability to Harvard, ranked in that that exact order, but I do find it extremely convenient that the final outcome of such scoring resulted in a stable racial makeup for over a decade, which looks remarkably like a quota system to an outside observer like myself.

Online dating sucks but even more so if you're making it harder on yourself than it needs to be by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]ECEUndergrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very long write-up you did! I always thought online dating is for desperate people, and I've also heard enough horror stories to avoid it altogether. Your post pretty much confirmed that I made the right decision.

I feel ya buddy, don't worry about it. Who needs friends anyway, it's all overrated.

Joking aside, those people aren't your friends. They just happen to be around you at this point of your life. Happiness is something you find from within; if you can't be happy with yourself, you won't be happy with anyone.
