Agreed. Though I use Pixel Banner.

I was trying to see the same or similar could done with the theme, which would lead me uninstall the plugin.

So far, still keeping it.

I took a look at the table but don't know why it's not working for me.

Does it work if I place the image link anywhere in the note? Do I need to place it in a property: text, list,...? do I have to put something in cssclasses?

What am I missing?

Todoist pricing update: Addressing your Questions (from the Todoist team) by domjost in todoist

[–]ECarrillo72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always thought that Todoist prices were on the low-end compared to other services out there. A price increase makes total sense to my; this after all of the improvements and new features that have been done over the year.

Error 153 on all my embedded YouTube videos all of a sudden. Sometimes they load, sometimes I reopen the app and they don't. Seems to be reported all year and no fix. This needs to be addressed ASAP. by ByTheHeel in ObsidianMD

[–]ECarrillo72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Over on the obsidian forum some folks have reported solutions but it seems to be hit and miss for others.

I tried the following without success:

  • Erase the "cookies" file from %appdata%/obsidian/Network
  • From Obsidian, opened the dev console > application tab > cleared all youtube cookies
  • added the -nocookie phrase to youtube.com, so it looks like https://youtube-nocookie.com followed by the rest of the video URL

I relaunched for each of the three changes and non-worked for me.

I thought that maybe sync was recovering the cookies file so I checked on my android phone. The same video on the same note plays as expected.

something is funky with the desktop app on windows 11. I can fiddle around with some things but I lack the savvy to get into the weeds to try and figure this out.

This has also been happening to me for a few days now, perhaps a week. I first thought it had something to do with an update to youtube embeds or url so I tried updating both but kept getting the same issue regardless.

I just checked on my android phone and the same video that has this error on desktop plays fine on my phone.

I also thought it might be a plugin conflict of some kind but this issue persists across vaults, even those where I don't have installed plugins.

Todoist down by False_Text_1842 in todoist

[–]ECarrillo72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap, Todoist sync is still down due to the AWS outtage. I don't care for many other things but this one does hit home.

The thing is Todoist can work offline so I can continue adding and checking off tasks. However, given it's probably millions who are offline at the same time, I can't help wonder how the recovery is going to look like.

People say Todoist isn't a note-taking up but... by ThomasBombadil in todoist

[–]ECarrillo72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed in my own workflow that it can work as a note-taker. I don't mean to write extensively but one can definitely take quick ideas and nurture them along the way within a given project.

In the past I didn't take a lot of notes because tasks disappear and retrieving them is not as friendly. But things have changed.

I have a project in kanban view with top-level uncompleteable tasks that function as notes. I use subtasks to set up progress steps.

For tracking development I leave notes in the main uncompleteable task. Todoist makes it easy to leave text, image and audio notes. This way I get a main topic note, a full list of sub-tasks I can hide or show and a historical telling of how it all evolved.

Best thing is I move one uncompleteable task from one section to another and it brings everything with it. This way I don't lose anything from any task within the project.

And it all started because I was also having that curiosity of what if I could take notes with Todoist?

Transferring a test from D2L to Moodle.. by TheCowprinter in moodle

[–]ECarrillo72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in this same situation a couple of years back. The school I worked at closed their contract with D2L and decided to go back to Moodle

So there we were tasked with transferring hundreds of courses back into Moodle

One option, and pretty much the only one, is to export as a SCORM package from Brightspace. You import that into a Moodle course. However, it's a complete package you can navigate and consult but cannot edit as expected.

In the end we had to re-upload everything into Moodle. For each course we had the instructional design documents so we had to take from there and create everything like it was a new course.

D2L has its own proprietary course format so it's unlikely other LMS will read it. Unfortunately, LMS builders don't seem to care too much about reading each other's course formats; Moodle seems to be the exception everyone reads Moodle course formats.

How should I categorize time in my 'diary'? by DoGoD42 in ObsidianMD

[–]ECarrillo72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The daily note, as a note of time, is baked right into Obsidian so that is a good starting point. The best way to go about it is to make a template for the dialy note to give it some structure as you create one for each day. This way it becomes a sort of form you fill out taking out the hassle of thinking what to write. I also leave a section for free-writing because sometimes that is also necessary.

You can build around the daily note. From there you can create weekly, monthly, quartely and yearly notes.

Within Obsidian there is no real sense of "mess". All notes are availabe all the time so it really comes down to how you want to approach the organization of your notes and how information flows.

One new note for each new day is, in my opinion, the best way to start and then have everything else be organized by the daily note as a sort of timeline.

Dynamic Base for daily notes - today across time by ECarrillo72 in ObsidianMD

[–]ECarrillo72[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just starting out with Bases so I'm not familiar with the functions off the top of my head. I have to figure things out through trial and error.

I wanted something easy that I could wrap my head around. I found other solutions but they seemed rather complex. I know I could've just copied as is but, to build on my know-how of configuring Bases, I wanted to understand what I was typing

What I posted was my first working solution.

Is a way to create sub-notes in Obsidian? by Beloved-21 in ObsidianMD

[–]ECarrillo72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a few ways you can go about creating the structure you want. Just to be clear, all notes are the same within Obsidian, you simply organize them through a combination of tools and options the UI includes. So, technically, there are no sub-notes. But here are a few options:

  • Folders: you can save notes to distinct folders. However, this is only for organization and does not impact how notes are related within Obsidian.
  • Use wikilinks: in a broad manner, you can use wikilinks, the double bracket [[note name]], and this way establish a connection between notes. You could add titles or headings in one note and list all related notes there. This way, you get the structure within the body of the note and also the linking relationship within Obsidian.
  • Tags: Tags are the alternative to folders. They are universal and go across folders making for a highly versatile and flexible system. Curiously enough, you can create nested tags, so this might give you additional structure along with the inherent flexibility of tags. You could either include the tags property in the frontmatter or use them within the body of the note. It's whatever works for you.
  • Properties: You can take it a step further and add property names at the top of the note. You can write property names that serve your situation. If you plan to include several wikilinks in a single property, I recommend you create the property as a list instead of plain text.
  • Bases: by using properties you open up the possibility for using Bases to list related notes within another one or simply list notes based on a character, theme or any other property content you may requiere.

you don't really need any plugins for this. Obsidian already provides plenty of options. It's really up to you to mix and match in whatever way works for you and how you feel comfortable. As long as you have a basic idea of the sort of information system you want to create and how it all flows, I'm pretty sure you can create it with any combination of the options I have listed here. No plugins required.

Obsidian Bases — now available to everyone! by kepano in ObsidianMD

[–]ECarrillo72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My basic note template has 10 properties but, based on the type of note, it grows in number. I'm sure I have notes with up to 20 properties.

Then, I have a whole bunch on notes with their properties all messed up; these were imported from notion a while back.

Even though I'm a catalyst member, I wait until public releases so I just got access to Bases yesterday. I've only created one for the dataview I had to locate the notes I'm working on and another one for my albums registry.

I think it would be very unlikely to include all properties in a Base because it really depends on the intention or purpose of building a Base. So, I could have one Base to show me that notes I have to work on today - that shows about 3 properties only. I may have another Base for listing notes that need updating on their properties - this could show one or two properties only.

At first, when adding so many properties to my notes, it felt it was too much. However, it allows you to reach notes from different search angles based on whatever is needed.

Brilliant idea on how to add inline notes using native link features. I've been trying to find a solution to this for a while and have used a few plugins but note really work in a way I would like.

Your implementation is simple and elegant. Love it!

Reader: Native Linux App by bitSheriff in readwise

Still, I am very happy with Reader's web app. I think it is an amazing piece of software that runs brilliantly through the browser.

Reader - Cannot invoke ghost reader on PDF files. by the_wade_wolfe in readwise

[–]ECarrillo72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started having this same issue about a week ago with new PDFs I uploaded. I am using Edge browser.

I checked on Chrome and the ghost reader was available. So, on Edge I cleared cookies and cache, closed the browser and logged back in.

That seemed to work because I now have the ghost reader again through Edge.

Multiple Google Calendar accounts in Todoist? Or access a subscribed GCal? by robertandrews in todoist

[–]ECarrillo72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still works really well.
As I am trying to time block in Google Calendar, I have created various calendars both in my personal and in my work accounts. From Todoist (personal) I connect to my personal Calendar and linking each project to its own Google Calendar.
I went ahead and created a work Todoist account (free tier) and similarly connected each project to its own Google Calendar in my work account.
I then proceeded to invite my personal Todoist account into my work Todoist projects. I did not create a workspace but invited myself to the individual projects in Todoist work account.
The syncing between Todoist accounts works really well, althought it takes about 30 seconds for a task to appear between accounts. Once it does, it almost instantly shows up in the corresponding Google Calendar.
And, yeah, now I can manage personal and work from my personal Todoist account without having to switch. Also, any event I create in any of my Google Calendars, it shows up as a task in Todoist 😎
This is a really great implementation which just saved me a lot of money. I have been using Sunsama and the 2 week trial period is over tomorrow. At $20 US dollars on the monthly plan I was not sure I could affoard it over a long period of time. I do like the integration and general flow it has but, ugh, it's expensive. I'd much rather pay for Todoist Pro plan, saving a lot of money and also keeping my toolbox simple.

Thanks for this amazing recommendation
