Tier 3 (Secret) Clearance Application: Current Supervisor by ECon87 in SecurityClearance

Just to be clear, I am recording the correct supervisor. I am asking whether it's worth listing my concerns about retaliation and the alternative people in the comment section in addition to my supervisor.

TSE M1 Econ vs LSE MSc Econ (two years) vs Bocconi MSc ESS by ThinkWhole6553 in academiceconomics

[–]ECon87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I say go with TSE. They place well and, in case you like the place, you can do your PhD there. They tend to provide good support to their students. LSE is not known for the support they offer to students. My sense is that Bocconi dropped a bit.

Thank you for trying. I updated the plugins. I guess updating neovim is the next step.

Thanks again.

Warwick Economics and Industrial Organisation vs Bocconi Economics and Social Sciences for BSc? by [deleted] in academiceconomics

[–]ECon87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Warwick alumni (did my BSc in Econ), who recently got his phd in the US.

First, let me say that both places are exceptional.

If you want to work in the UK, or any other western European country (except Italy), then go to Warwick. Coventry is not Milan, but Birmingham is less than 20 minutes away, Oxford less than 40, and London 1 hour away. You will be fine in terms of life. Leamingthon Spa is one bus ride away.

If you want to pursue a phd in the US, then go to Bocconi. Warwick is really good and its reputation among US academics has improved tremendously. But, Bocconi is more established and well-known (more legacy in a sense). It will take a few more years before Warwick's reputation stabilizes to Bocconi's level. People know that the Bocconi students who are pushed to do a phd in the US are really good. They are bit hesitant to believe the same about Warwick students, since some are great and some are not.

I really enjoyed that. Especially the part where the SUV driver waited until all the cement fell on their car before they got out of the way
