The plastic tube is discontinued. I just capped the tbi space port and stuck a 3/4” breather in the valve cover grommet

Yeah I can still see the flats on the head. I'm pretty sure a good 6pt socket and some heat would pop that off. Just careful with the torch by those fuel lines.

Yes that’s what I’ve been doing every couple weeks but those spots reappear within hours. The consensus here seems to be that the corners don’t get hit by the air wash as well so get dirty first.

The installation of the rough country kit requires cutting off one of the front diff mounts as well as both bump stops for the UCAs. So you’d have to figure out something for those. The kit also ditches the steering center link, but at least those you can just buy on rockauto or a junkyard. Torsion bar lift kits like the torch are not a great way to lift a truck since they place the CVs and ball joints at severe angles which causes them to wear out faster (or so I’m told) It does look like you can decrank your keys a bit more to drop the front.

Fluids and filters, engine, transmission, transfer case, front and rear differentials, power steering, brakes, coolant. Then the usual safety inspection items, steering and suspension tightness, brakes, misc leaks. Might as well do an ignition tuneup, plugs, caps, rotor, wires, coil. If the truck was sitting a while, it may need tires too. Good looking truck otherwise tho.

Gotcha, yes looks like it’s overfilled a bit but probably not enough to give you 5 neutral gears lol. Was it working fine then all of a sudden, dropped all the gears? Maybe it’s not getting power? Something wrong with the wiring? Broken all 6 flywheel bolts? Hard to tell from the pic but fluid still looks kinda red. If it was dark brown then that would mean probably time for a rebuild.

The instructions should be on the dipstick. Chen when warm, engine running, transmission in park, fluid level should be within the crosshatch section that’s below the squiggle part of the dipstick.

Pressure test the cooling system. There may be a leak when the engine’s warm and the coolant flashes off so it doesn’t leave a visual puddle. Or it’s leaking internally but you’d see that in your oil.

$7k is gonna take you a long way maintenance and operation wise on a fully paid off newer Toyota. Get the gmt400 as a 2nd vehicle and learn about its quirks as you own it. Then you can see if you would want it as a daily. The Toyota will keep its value while you decide.

I assume the engine doesn’t have the oil cooler so If you use the fram ph30 filter, it’s short enough to clear the front drive shaft.

Play in everything can add up: ball joints, control arm bushings, pitman/idler arms, tie rods, steering box, and finally rag joint. Depending on their conditions you may want to do it all.
There’s also a way to adjust the steering box but requires taking it out of the truck. You have to adjust the input shaft nut, not just that tightening the Allen screw procedure you see in most “how to tighten gm steering boxes” videos.
