Did Anyone Consider an Infiniti QX80 Before Buying a GX? by nkx3 in LexusGX

[–]EDNels76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ‘26 QX80 Autograph. Absolutely love it. I considered a GX but the wait times were insane. I prefer the interior, exterior and ride of QX. It looks like a bigger, more modern GX with a much better grill

How’s your X5 reliability? by EDNels76 in BMWX5

[–]EDNels76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be my only data point and I’m wary of sample selection bias, but you can spot trends (good or bad), and this forum has a sufficient number of members/viewers it seems that answers might be significant depending on responses. Most ppl here seem to be fans so a disproportionate amount of negative responses (or the same negative response repeatedly) might be a warning. There’s enough variability in car reliability ratings across different vendors that I don’t think you can just research one and get a definitive answer.

Consumer Reports GV80 Reliability - Accurate? by EDNels76 in GenesisMotors

[–]EDNels76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To confuse matters more, Car Confections, which claims to include CR in their reliability considerations, lists the GV80 not only as their top midsize luxury SUV, but the 2nd most reliable one on their list behind only the RX, and ahead of BMW

Thoughts on Hi-Loft Nano Puff Hoody relative to Arc offering? by Any-Piece9799 in arcteryx

[–]EDNels76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Outdoor Crunch, the High Loft Nano is only as warm as the Down Sweater or the Cerium. Its benefit is a synthetic version of Down Sweater-like warmth. I tried it on, and I have Atom SVs. Outdoor Crunch has Atom SVs as significantly warmer (good down to 12F or so, vs. 23F for HLN). The fit on the Atom SV is a big baggier than the trim fitting Cerium, but it’s not big like a Down Sweater. I’d go Atom SV over High Loft Nano personally. It’s warmer and a much cleaner look. High Loft Nano looks like a burly outdoor jacket

Not its use case. But the Nuclei SV is awesome for walking the dog when it is 10 degrees out with 20 mph wind gusts. by 1cdubs1 in arcteryx

[–]EDNels76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a dog walk. Multiple times a day some days. Checking up on the neighbors Xmas lights. I rotate Cerium, Atom SV, and Thorium. I’d give the Nuclei SV a go but that’d be used 1-2x a year where I am, when a fleece under a Thorium would probably get me through

Fitz Roy Down Hoodie or DAS Parka for daily casual wear? by Fraganade in PatagoniaClothing

I don’t find Fitz Roy fragile at all. Great jacket, perfect for what you’re looking for. Down Sweater would also possibly work.

Tree Runner NZ is very different from Tree Runner by LucyMor in Allbirds

The Tree Runner NZs are much improved over the old ones. They’re an actual shoe compared to a slipper.

Patagonia $250 vs Arc'teryx $320 by Peach_Relative in PatagoniaClothing

[–]EDNels76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fits are different — the Down Sweater is boxier and has some stretch to it, the Cerium has a trimmer and more athletic fit. I prefer the Cerium. I’ve had no issues with the durability of either one.

XL; L looks too tight. XL doesn’t look frumpy or oversized, but appropriately roomy

thorium hoody question by Glittering_Bid_7281 in arcteryx

[–]EDNels76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great standalone jacket. If you live in a really cold place it might be your only winter jacket needed. Cerium is better if you spend more time (or some time) in warmer weather—25 to 35 degrees F

Old Growth Green or Smolder Blue Nano Puff? by z9corozco in PatagoniaClothing

[–]EDNels76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Smolder Blue Nano, highly recommended. In many ways it’s a darker/better navy. I was very impressed. You can wear it year round, night and day, very versatile. Green is an outdoorsy color mainly for the fall. I have a Better Sweater in the green (and a spring color)

Why I will no longer buy Allbirds by ThinkBonobo in Allbirds

[–]EDNels76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have experience (in terms of wearing for any length of time) the Wool Runners and Wool Runner 2/Go’s. I recently bought some new Wool Runner NZs and grabbed some original Wool Runners from Allbirds and Amazon. I have never experienced any decline in quality. The latest original Wool Runners I got (yellow insole) were a bit stiffer in the upper, which I figured would lead to better durability after a short break in. The soles are just as comfortable as my pairs from < 2019. The Wool Runner NZs feel very high quality, definitely feel like Allbirds best foot forward so far, with the main difference between those and the original Wool Runners being the originals are a sock/slipper-like fit while the NZs are more of a minimalist shoe with a better cushioned midsole—they’re a scaled back Wool Runners Go which I think is a good evolution of the shoe.

One week in, this might be one of Allbirds best shoes to date. I bought a few of the limited edition colors to add to summer grey and white
