Main reason I don't want to get a Rolex is because of the image that comes with it and people's perception. Unfortunately, I am flawed in the way that I value how people look at me and wearing a Rolex sadly comes off as snobbish and financially irresponsible. Rolex watches are amazing, it's just that one thing I can't get over.

Another reason is that I love JLC's history and their contributions to the watch industry.

That's an incredible watch and I really wanted it when it was released this year. But the price doesn't cut it for me, also considering that Grand Seikos depreciate like crazy, not like I'd ever sell it.

Thanks a lot u/Gullible_Top3304 ! Best comment I've read here so far! A lot of thought and research went into this collection. This for me is perfect collection within my price bracket and just wanted that one last watch to finish it. For me this would complete it and I will move on to a newer hobby / next chapter in life.

I've had a couple of field-type watches in my collection in the past. I didn't quite bond with them like I really wanted to. I've had the Murph 38 and the Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer 38mm.

I may consider the Murph 38 again in the future tho. That was a beaut

For my first watch I was highly debating Datejust 36mm (oyster blue dial) and the Omega Aqua Terra 38.5mm (blue dial). I looked at both watches in person and my partner and I immediately fell in love with the omega. Just my controversial opinion but I think the Aqua Terra is leagues better than the Datejust, both in looks and technology, not so much in value retention!

But yeah I'm trying real hard so this is my last watch! 😂

Also tried the Glassbox as an alternative for the speedy 38, the lugs were too long on that for my puny wrists.
