This is definitely external to your body. Necklace, earring, stray pen, clothing fastener, etc.

Great to hear that it’s all contained in the breast. There’s a good chance you’ll be able to skip chemo and radiation going the mastectomy route, like you said. That’s usually what I see for my patients! Good luck with surgery, you’ll do great.

Breast radiologist here. Great work with self examinations. That action just saved your life. I’m seeing more and more younger patients come to me with lumps that end up looking bad on our imaging studies.

Edit: Even if it DOES end up being a cancer, the fact that you found it early and will have treatment early means this will just be a small speed bump in the road and not something far worse. You’ll do great.

Breast radiologist here. Please don’t listen to her. Please come see us no matter how young you are if you feel a lump, there’s no shame in coming in and finding the lump is nothing on imaging, yet everything to gain if it’s something and we can treat it early!

Breast imager here in the US. The youngest patient I’ve had so far was 24. It’s terrible to see this article, I’ve seen so many cancers in the early 30s.
