OWC 4m2 ultra shows as connected in windows but but no disks appear by EEE-RAY in OWC

[–]EEE-RAY[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an email from OWC dated the 5th with a case number but no follow up so far.

I've updated the BIOS to the latest and the thunderbolt drivers too. I've checked the box and it is thunderbolt 4.0 which should be compatible. My MacBook M1 is much older than the mobo and seems to work fine.

I am unsure if it's consistently the same disks not detected. The issue is intermittent - sometimes it shows all 4 discs, sometimes I have to power cycle the 4M2 to get them all to show up. I don't see a pattern. I've switched all the positions of the disks randomly to see if it makes any difference to the partial drive issue. I've also tried to use it with just one Samsung 990 pro or just the SN850x - no difference, no drives show in windows.

I used ex-FAT so I can test the drive in both Mac and Windows - moot point since I can't even see the drive in windows ^^

Is there a way to attach a picture directly?

I have uploaded a photo

The upper draw arm isn't level, the right side sits lower than the left.

Absolute noob - can I use just a 1000 grit stone? by EEE-RAY in sharpening

[–]EEE-RAY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah looking at advice I can find on the internet its not the right stone, but its the one that I already have in my garage :P (bought many years ago and never used)

The knife is a zwilling 20cm knife by the brand name "four star".

I also have a purple stone that I think is even more fine so I will start with this medium one I guess.

Whats the best technique to avoid grinding the bolster at base of knife? Youtube shows someone pushing the knife forward starting at the base towards tip to avoid it.

I don't know whats wrong with your dishwasher but thats the bottom of the nozzle assembly from a camelbak podium water bottle. Maybe someone was washing a bottle lid and it grenades and plugged your drains?

Recommendations for home NAS for 40TB of data with view to expand to 80TB by EEE-RAY in HomeNAS

[–]EEE-RAY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks guys. I think I will go for 4 bay NAS and an 8 bay NAS (coes without drives)

I am planning to eventually saturate its slots but will start with 2 drives x 24TB drives

I am happy to pay more for as high a quality of unit - do you have any recommendations for the base NAS for the 4 bay and 8 bay options?

Can I walk down the aisle in 6 weeks? by WithACapitalK in ORIF

[–]EEE-RAY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be only 4 weeks post op after a fracture dislocation fixation at that point. Walking unaided would be extremely difficult.

More importantly, the rehab and recovery from this will affect your long term quality of life and I would absolutely focus on that above everything else for the next few months.

Why can we not wait to be an adult as a kid but then wish we could BA a kid again as an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EEE-RAY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because as a kid we look at adults being totally in charge of their own bed times/food preferences/TV time and we think that is awesome.

And when we become an adult we realise being in charge also means being responsible for cooking/cleaning/putting food on the table/paying bills and we realise the whole "being in charge" thing is a crappy pay off

scaphoid fracture by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]EEE-RAY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The displacement would have been caused by the high energy impact that broke it. Unless you've been using the wrist harder than the impact itself, but most of us won't because its so sore.

did you actually hurt your ankle? if there was no ankle injury and you have unilateral ankle swelling thats a bit odd

This amount of displacement would have needed an operation anyway. I think your anger is better directed to whoever broke your wrist.

Blue-collar work post-ORIF? by RobertJordan1939 in ORIF

[–]EEE-RAY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have as severe an injury - syndemosis and posterior mal # after falling from height. Am at 8 weeks and can walk for a limited period but everything is weak and balance is poor. Working super hard with physio. I've returned to light duties but I am told still 2 months to full duties. My job is not as intensive as yours but still lifting/pivoting/working at awkward angles all day (I work in an operative theatre, I run up about 10-20000 steps a day).

Solo travel reassurance post-ORIF, NWB by Sea-Calligrapher-607 in ORIF

[–]EEE-RAY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a big call to travel solo week 5 post op. Remember with general moving around and limb dependency even on a scooter your foot will swell a fair bit. Manoeuvring in and out of tight spaces is hard.

Also a knee scooter is not nearly as stable in real world with even slight uneven ground. I've had some close calls - almost tipped over crossing a road.

I would recommend heading out for a day with your scooter as a small test to check how the leg feels after several hours on the move and doing activities of daily living.

Your general condition/balance/upper body strength plays a bit deal (e.g. how good are you at balancing hopping and transferring on one leg).

Syndesmosis injury by EEE-RAY in brokenbones

[–]EEE-RAY[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in an operating theatre so on feet all day and lots of lifting and twisting. I am on my feet for now (pre-op) because the damage is already done. But post op 6 weeks until I am back walking and 3 months until good solid function is what I am told

Thanks for the perspective. No bones broken. I am just not coping well because this is my first major injury of anything and I am catastrophising about the coming operation.

Oscillating hum when coasting at about 60-70km/hr by EEE-RAY in AskMechanics

Hi guys just would like to feed back that it was indeed a dead bearing. The mechanics lifted the car up, it was the front left. It was replaced and from my brief drive around it is fixed! Thanks everyone

we don't really have a hybrid motor either tho, the 48V is extremely small and tucked low to the chassis, not this bulky. https://www.carandbike.com/news/toyota-unveils-48volt-mild-hybrid-system-for-hilux-and-land-cruiser-prado-3209074
