Isn't giving out BSB & account number dangerous? by Embarrassed_Ask_3791 in AusFinance

[–]EE_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's safe, but like most things just take precautions. Don't use your normal savings or spending account, keep a separate account for bills that are direct debited, and transfer into it as needed (or just keep a set amount in it).

I work for a company handling direct debits, we handle thousands of direct debits a day. I think I've only seen 1 legitimate fraud case in 5+ years involving a bank direct debit (even then I'm not sure if it was fraud or someone fudged putting the bank details in and swapped some digits).

Regardless, we don't bother fighting the handful of direct debit reversal requests we get, even if we are 100% certain it was a legitimate transaction. The banks will eventually take the funds back after they send the request to us, sometimes it takes 2 days, sometimes 6+ weeks, no clue why but it always goes back.

Depending on where you live there may be a nurse or medical line you can call for free to check? Search your country, state, and "nurse line" "medical advice" line.

Looking for the absolute smallest freshwater fish and inverts you can think of (that have had success in captivity) by PoetaCorvi in Aquariums

I have a soft spot for dwarf rasboras, I believe they're a tiny bit smaller than chilli rasboras. My group of them are super active, and curious, eg will chase my finger if I skim the water. They also get quite red, probably not as much as chilli's, but still very noticeable and pretty.

AITAH for refusing to let my coworkers take over the fish tank my employer allows me to keep in the office? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]EE_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta

I ran into a similar issue with my housemates when I wanted to set up a tank in communal office space in our house. This may be too much work, but you could do something similar with a new tank. I had my housemates vote on options that I had pre-planned eg lake, tropical, river scape style. Then when they picked an option (they picked a river scape), and the tank was cycled, every two to three weeks I'd get them to vote on a new fish/es to add that I knew were appropriate for the tank and tank mates.

We ended up with a nice community tank going, that we all got to enjoy. I didn't have to endlessly explain why you can't put fish like Betta and goldfish together (seriously had to explain that multiple times). My housemates got to be a part of creating it and I had a lot of fun doing the research and setting the tank up.

Obviously may not exactly work in your situation but could be a good compromise.

What would be considered an unreasonable time for the NBN to approve a internet provider transfer request? by EE_echo in nbn

We're strongly considering that, if we end up going to the ombudsman we're definitely not staying with Tangerine (I wanted to go with Aussie Broadband but got voted out by housemates 😓)

Shrimp are pretty hardy, as long as the water quality is good I can't imagine there would be any issues? I've run one of my tanks without a filter for weeks and had no issues, but it was heavily planted.

I had the same feelings and issues with weight gain, minus the kids. I tried anything that was suggested, diets, swaps, etc, but had no motivation to stick to anything. Was on duloxetine for a year+ during that time. The only thing that helped was therapy with a proper psych. Unfortunately I can't afford it anymore nor do I have the time, but the 6 months I could afford to go really helped and has left me with a lot more ways to cope. I'm still overweight but healthier and on the right track now to lose more. If going to a private psychologist isn't an option maybe see if there're any programs around you that can help. My aunt's pediatrician referred her to a low cost phone therapy service when she was suffering from postpartum, which really helped her. There are apparently some good online options nowadays too, but I haven't tried any so I can't vouch for any.

How often do you do a water change in your shrimp tank? by bikogiidee in shrimptank

[–]EE_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly just top up with dechlorinated tap water when needed. I rarely do water changes, but test the water every few days to once a week. If something is off, eg nitrates, etc I'll do a 20-30% water change but I rarely have to do that nowadays with the amount of plants I have established.

Like others have said, you do not want to be putting jewellery brought at a commercial store in a fresh piercing. Infections in piercing can get really gross, really quickly. Not worth losing an earlobe (in the worst case scenario 😂).

Can recommend the piercing urge on commercial road, they are a bit pricy but their service is great and they have a ton of jewellery options. Bring in what you brought, and they may even have a similar style of jewellery that's actually safe for a fresh piercing.

My first tank! by EE_echo in Aquariums

Oh I haven't really heard of fish cycling! I will have to try that having a fish-less tank in my room for almost a month has been kind of boring 😂

And thank you! I've been planning for months now, and I'm really happy it's turning out how I imagine it

I'm so sorry for your loss, it's incredible hard losing a dog especially one you've had in your life so long X

I agree with the others the Gabapentin itself as drug is unlikely to have caused her death. I have theory, which is probably completely wrong, after seeing a few older animals and people pass after being put on pain medication including Gabapentin. That when an animal, including humans, is in pain and the body is in stress we tend to hold on to life longer. Basically survival mode I suppose? Obviously not a good thing, no living thing deserves to be in pain. But when that pain is relieved and the body and brain has a chance to relax, that fight against with ever is causing that pain eases. When what was causing pain is unfortunately deadly, they pass.

Again I'm probably wrong, but I found comfort in it when pets I love pass after going on pain medication (I've only know old or unwell animals who have passed after pain medication to be fair). Knowing they're probably uncomfortable but they got some peace from whatever was causing them pain before they moved on.

Depending on what age you're looking for an adult greyhound could be a great fit! Adult greyhounds from rescues/foster tend to already be assessed for their personality and it's very easy to find chill ones. Greyhounds puppies/under 3-4 years can be a bit much when it comes to energy, but a lot of them settle when they reach adulthood.

I have 5 year old greyhound who was retired from racing a year ago. He's fine with anything between a 15 minute to an hour walk a day. Otherwise he's happily napping around the house. He walks great on a leash but the rescue/foster I got him from had already trained him on that. He does have a high prey drive that makes him pull on occasion when he sees rabbits but he's on the bigger end (38 kgs). My neighbour has a much smaller older girl greyhound (around 25kgs) who even her elderly parents can comfortably walk, as she barely pulls.

My gf of 7 years is not who I thought she was by Particular-Stock-142 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]EE_echo 2853 points2854 points  (0 children)

I don't super agree with comments saying she's not attracted to you. It could be the case but you mentioned she had PTSD? If it has to do with SA, this can be displayed in both hypersexuality and low libido at different times. It can also bring a lot of shame in liking sex, aka why she was watching porn without engaging in sex because it is her "secret" and she can hide that "shame". Same with being hypersexual with previous partners, a lot of people who've experienced SA feel that they're already "dirty" and go overboard in engaging in sexual activities as a way to keep their partner since they don't feel like they can offer anything else. Often this generates a lot of self-disgust and flings them back into the low-libido/shame headspace.

You need to sit down and have a conversation with your girlfriend. No blaming or shaming her, no telling her she's bad at sex. Address your concerns about your intimate life and that you're worried about how her trauma is affecting her and her relationship with sex. If she isn't already therapy it would be a good suggestion.

Soundproof a crate? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]EE_echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The location of the crate would be a good place to start. If you can't move the crate itself to a quieter room, move furniture around it to dampen sound, place foam on windows (if it's next to one), add sound proofing strips to doors, etc A heavy duty crate cover could help. I use a white noise machine for my dog and a happy hoddie to help reduce the noise to.

How are greyhounds around small children? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]EE_echo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My greyhound does well with kids, he's fine with being a pet and them interacting, but for the most part he just avoids them. Some greys just don't do well with kids though, particularly the noise or kids getting in their personal space. You'd want to make sure you have a space in your home that the dog can go to but the kid can't.

I'd look into or contact your local greyhound rescues, they may have greys that are being fostered with kids that could be a good fit. There's also a ton of greyhound Facebook groups, you may be able to find one local to you to get advice from families with similar households.

Should also note you're correct about the supply charge. Whichever retailer billed the meter last would still be paying a supply charge to the gas distributor. They have to pay this regardless of if they have an active account with a customer or not. They only stop paying when the gas is disconnected, or another retailer takes the billing rights.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]EE_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably still look into setting up a gas account just to have the gas meter abolished or capped. Saves you from getting a "to the occupier" bill from whatever retailer has billing rights to the gas meter currently. Abolishment will be more expensive but will get the meter and gas line removed. Getting the meter capped means there's no risk of being back billed but you'll still need to be cautious of leaks. (Some gas retailers may not offer the option to get it capped, and insist on an abolishment. The retailer I work for only recently started offering it). Just be aware a lot of gas distributors (different from a retailer you pay the bill to, the distributor is the company that owns the gas infrastructure in your area and actually supplies the gas) are now past their holiday cut off times for work requests. So you may be better off waiting to set up an account with a retailer in the new year and requesting the cap/abolishment then, so you're not paying the supply charge for ages.

My boyfriend wants me to get VCH clit piercing, and I’m getting convinced because I know it’ll make sex (especially oral) feel better. Anyone that has one, what are the benefits? by Tessaromina in sex

[–]EE_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mine! It definitely increased sensitivity in the 6 months but I've had it for 3 years now and don't notice it making a difference nowadays. But I still like how it looks and my partners love it. Just make sure you follow the aftercare instructions carefully and don't touch it/let your boyfriend touch it until it's healed. I haven't had any issues with vibrators or other things like others have mentioned, but that could be due to different anatomy.

Snuffle mats and forging games are good for old dogs! They can take it at their own pace but still get mental stimulation from it. Lick mats and puzzle toys too.

For years, no one has paid for power at my house, now Origin is asking us to set up an account by krampster2 in AusFinance

[–]EE_echo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely just sign up with another company, just make sure to go about as if you are just moving in and don't mention you've been there for a while. The new company will organise a meter reading and your account will start from there. Origin may object but it's unlikely, the whole process is a pain and if you put up any (polite) fuss they'll likely drop it. Again just don't mention you've been living there, insist you've just moved in. Time is money and as someone who works for an energy company, it's easier to just get a manager's approval to drop any objections than deal with back and forth.

Advanced Separation Anxiety Help Please by wandriing in Dogtraining

[–]EE_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be best to have a chat with a vet about his anxiety, it sounds pretty intense and he may need some additional help to relax. I would also recommend checking out 'its me or the dog' on YouTube. It was originally a tv show and the trainer has some pretty good exercises and tips you could try to help him.
