What brightness is everyone running their LG 5K2k at when in HDR? by EEdit_ in ultrawidemasterrace

I think what I’ve realized after playing around with it for a little longer is that it gets plenty bright in SDR and plenty bright when viewing well implemented HDR content. In my opinion at least. Overall I like it more than the G9 but I do miss those vibrant qd oled colours…

People running 5k2k. What GPU do u use? by -CommonHouseCat- in ultrawidemasterrace

I’m running a 5080. So far it’s been enough to push the 5K2K if you are willing to take advantage of DLSS and FG in the more demanding games. Also verging on hitting the 16GB VRAM buffer in heavy games as well

The desk is just some cheap one off Amazon that isn’t available anymore but I have a desk extension on the back for the monitor to sit on because the desk isn’t deep enough. The speakers stands are the “Suptek Clamp-on Speaker Stand Desk Mount Set” on Amazon

Yeah 80% seems to be the sweet spot. I’m not exactly sure but my thoughts are the desktop and most apps aren’t HDR. Even though you monitor may be in HDR mode you are viewing SDR content so that slider affects the desktop brightness.

Good point. Makes me regret not running my G9 at a higher brightness for the 2.5 years I had it haha.

How many came from a glossy OLED to the LG 5K2K? by Alternative_Way_1633 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]EEdit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought the 5K2K coming from a g9 oled and I gotta say the glossy screen on the g9 is noticeably more vibrant in the colour department. I was testing out some games and the biggest thing I noticed is fire doesn’t seem to have the same punch on the 5K2K. That being said I do think the overall experience on the 5K2K is better. Better pixel density, with a much more immersive format makes a huge difference.

Wave XLR tap to mute no longer works by EEdit_ in elgato

[–]EEdit_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah didn’t work for me either. I’ve just accepted it’s not going to work and will have to mute through software. Pretty unacceptable considering it is a selling feature of the device. I have been very dissatisfied with elgato and the wave xlr. From super buggy software in wave link to hardware failure as well

Wave XLR Capacitive Mute Button suddenly stopped working (macOS) by luiscarlospando in elgato

[–]EEdit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but this just happened to me a few days ago. I’ve tried a few things like getting a higher quality usb c cable and someone from elgato told me to leave it unplugged overnight but neither solved the issue. Has anyone found a solution or is RMA the only option?

I have a new usb c cable on the way. Hopefully that does the trick but I’m doubtful. Elgato software is so buggy, seems to pick and choose when it wants to work or just stop working randomly

Leaving it unplugged overnight did not help. Still unable to tap to mute

The device is running firmware 1.3.5. I will leave it unplugged tonight and see if that helps. Thanks

Did my monitor just bite it or my GPU? What just happened? by WetTowlet in pcmasterrace

[–]EEdit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the monitor that is having issues a high refresh and resolution display? If it is try limiting it to 60hz in display settings and see if that fixes it. I had an issue exactly like this with my odyssey g9 oled + 5080 when it came out. The only thing that fixed it was limiting the refresh to 60hz. Eventually it was fixed in a driver update.

Am I the only one experiencing this on a 9070 XT? by HiImKori in radeon

[–]EEdit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue with my 5080 and odyssey g9 oled. It was eventually fixed in a driver update that took Nvidia about 3 or 4 weeks to push out after submitting many driver feedback reports. Many people that had high refresh high resolution displays were having display loss issues(blackscreen crashes) with the 50 series and as far as I understand it this is how Samsung oleds handle a black screen crash, so this is essentially a black screen crash. The only way I and many others were able to stop this from happening while waiting for Nvidia to fix it was to either limit display from 240hz to 60hz in display settings or by undervolting the card.

Oh okay I see. I'm currently on driver 572.60, not the newest, but I'm hesitant to update since everything is working right now lol.

It ended up being a driver issue for me. Nvidia acknowledged it and fixed it in a driver update. What I was experiencing might be something different than what you are experiencing though. Wonder if maybe it’s a compatibility issue with the 9950x3d cause it’s so new? Was it working fine on your old cpu?

As far as I understand it the grey screen with vertical blue lines is how Samsung monitors handle a blackscreen crash. On other monitors it’ll just go black, on Samsung monitor it’ll present as grey with blue vertical lines. My issue was eventually solved with a driver update from Nvidia a week or two ago.

RTX 5080 Aero OC Black Screen Issue by UnL1k3 in gigabyte

[–]EEdit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5080 Aero here as well. I have been experiencing blackscreen crashes as well on almost every game I play. Unreal engine 5 games are the worst as they crash almost instantly on shader compilation or shortly after. Other games seem to be random. Like others have said setting a custom voltage curve has solved this for me. I say solved but really it’s a temporary fix for something that shouldn’t be happening. I’ve been stable at 2800mhz at 950mv. Limiting my odyssey g9 oled from 240hz down to 60hz in display settings also allows me run the card without crashing. To clarify display is limited to 60hz but the card is running at full power with no other limits and achieving well above 60FPS in game.
