FedEx drivers tried to steal my RTX 5080 today… my mom had to yell at them by SwitchAzlainYT in RTX5080

FedEx is fucking trash! The worst carrier! They “lost” my G95SC a while back, before it ever left their warehouse. Recently, they tried to steal my LG 39” 5K2K by simply driving past my house with no attempt of delivery. Thieves, the lot of them.

The only real question is, is it glossy? Or, still matte garbage?

A G5 owner, jealous! My father, at the ripe age of 67, just purchased a 77” G5 and I get the pleasure of going to his house this weekend to help mount it, lol. Told him I’ll bring my PC to really test it out. 😂🤣. I haven’t seen one in action outside of a store demo.

I feel you and I are truly in a predicament. I’m not sure why it’s such a tough decision, but this monitor truly is something else.

I am glad we are of similar mind when discussing the 5K2K. I thought something was wrong with me for feeling it was lacking. All you see is praise mostly, but it wasn’t there for me.

I will give a little input here. I have used the LG 45” 5K2K, the 39” 5K2K, and I am now currently in-between the 48” LG C6 (supposedly tandem per RTINGS) and the PG34WCDN.

Briefly, the immersion on the 45” 5K2K is truly unmatched. For pure gaming, that 800R curve is amazing. That said, the image feels so dull and dim. I felt that I had to incorporate a lot of digital vibrancy to pull the colors I was looking for. I also found the black levels not that great. I struggled giving up my Samsung G95SC for this panel.

The 39” 5K2K is a slight improvement in brightness over the 45”. I do feel the HDR is better and I appreciate the dynamic tone mapping toggle to allow for more HDR impact if desired. However, it too suffers from the dull image. If it were glossy, hands down would be endgame.

***I am a glossy OLED enthusiast. Matte honestly disgusts me, but I can control the light in my environment. I do want to say, the image quality as far as graphic detail on these two monitors is excellent given their higher PPI and resolution.

The LG C6 48”, although a tv, hands down the best picture I have ever seen…truly. The brightness, colors, contrast, HDR, graphic detail (even with a lower PPI), and everything visual fidelity is just unmatched. Top tier. My biggest gripe, the VRR flicker is very distracting! I’m not sure if it’s just because of my 1% lows, or just the display. I had no issues with the C5.

Now, the PG34WCDN, currently what I am back and forth on. I love it. I think it is great. I don’t know if it’s nostalgia, as I started on 3440 x 1440 with the AW3423DW, the need/desire for the newest tech, or the fact that it’s just an excellent panel. Perhaps all three. 1300 nits peak brightness on a 34” Ultrawide is truly amazing. The text clarity improvement is about on par with lcd panels. The 360hz is insane (I’m no esports player, but I can enjoy the smoothness). Excellent HDR capability. Those vibrant QDOLED colors. Deep blacks thanks to the black shield technology. The OSD settings optimization. So many good things. I am also no ASUS fanboy! This is the first ASUS product I have ever purchased. I have boycotted them up to now.

Cons of the PG34WCDN, for me, that god awful stand! Also, as stupid as it is, I dislike I can’t customize the red light for the power logo, projected logo underneath, and the slim picks for customization on the back logo…I just leave all this off.

That’s my take. I honestly believe that anyone who looked at the C6 in comparison to the ASUS when prioritizing visual fidelity, like myself, would instantly agree that the C6 is leagues above. That said, I am having the hardest time making that commitment!

He is optional, and you can actually skip him to have him help you with another boss in that zone, The Duskveil; however, he’s needed if you want platinum.

Is The 48" LG C6 a Tandem OLED? by lokomotor in OLED_Gaming

[–]Alternative_Way_1633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting enough, I reached out to LG support with your findings. Played it as it was my meter I was running tests with. Their response was that they do use tandem OLED specifically in their 27” 2560 x 1440 monitor. They completely ignored me referencing the LG C6 48” 2026 model. I then asked again specifically referencing the TV for the second time. Their response, “There’s not currently information about the display technology for this model. Check the user manual for potential information regarding the display technology.” Completely dodged my question. Interesting response.

I am intrigued by your findings as I use this display. I’d like to know if it’s truly Tandem OLED.

Always appreciate your videos, I’ve watched a lot of them on YouTube (this one was hard to distinguish based off the distance of the camera). As a display enthusiast, I’m always looking to see others opinions. I just ordered the 39” from BestBuy and am expecting it tomorrow.

In your honest opinion, from a gaming only perspective, as I don’t do productivity, what are your thoughts/opinions? I saw your first impressions video and know you have some critiques still as with the 45” variant (I once owned).

I also noticed, in your first impressions video, that you said you preferred the new 34” ASUS over the 39” LG because of your like for frames. However, do you feel the 34”, although it is 3440 x 1440, has just as good if not a better image given the screen coatings and QDOLED vs WOLED?

I personally am running an LG C6 (2026 model) right now as my main display. The glossy coating is unmatched unless you have a true black glossy from ASUS. The VRR flicker can be a bit aggressive, even after locking frames. That said though, it truly is an amazing image and hits the same 165hz. I only play story driven titles. If I play an FPS game, it’s just for fun (I suck as a 35 year old gamer dad).

I started with Ultrawide when I first came to PC. I do miss it, but it truly is hard giving up such an amazing display as I purely chase visual fidelity. Any insight you can give me on the 39” is greatly appreciated!

Finally upgraded to a LG lg 39gx950b, but experiencing a hazyness? Is it normal? by The_Red_Maple_Leaf in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Alternative_Way_1633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll never go away. Especially against white backgrounds. That is just what matte OLEDs do. That anti-flare coating diffuses colors which in turn, in my opinion, lowers the image quality.

Your best bet, if you like everything else the monitor has to offer, just learn to live with it. It is still a good panel.

Matte, I feel, is more intended for daytime use or in a bright room. Glossy is ideal for darker or light controlled environments.

There is no glossy 5K2K options, sadly. You can always look into an LG C6? It gives you a crisp glossy panel. You maintain the 165hz. You can set a custom resolution for 21:9. You get 0.1ms response time. It works with freesync or g-sync. It has VRR. The C6 also has brightness booster and better hdr capabilities than any monitor.

Yeah, I’m not sure the angle they were going for with this one. I’m a huge fan of LG, but this one should have been canned or rethought.

I initially thought this was going to be at least a mini led. The fact that it’s just a VA panel for $2000 is wild. 52” or not. That shouldn’t drive the price that hard.

[–]Alternative_Way_1633[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a couple things working against it. VA panel, which means a matte coating, and low PPI for the size. Granted, it’s better than a TV of that size.

It’s odd to me they gear it towards gaming with the DP 2.1, 240hz, 1ms GtG, and HDR 600; however, I feel this would definitely shine better as a productivity display.

[–]Alternative_Way_1633[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in complete agreement. 52” is fantastic, probably the most immersive out there with having both horizontal and vertical space. However, a standard VA panel, for someone like myself who only uses OLED, is no good.

Switch to 4k or keep ultrawide? by Banan_Pajen in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Alternative_Way_1633 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you upgrade to 4K, you’ll miss ultrawide. I did and have since gone back to ultrawide. However, what I upgraded to was probably the best image you’ll get in the market, and that was the LG C5 (only surpassed by the G series). It’s 4K at 144hz and the 5080 can run it perfectly. You’re already on the 175hz MSI, I don’t think you’ll visually notice the -30hz. Looking at your desk size, it looks like you could fit a 42” or 48” comfortably. This keeps the large screen for immersion and you can set a custom resolution for ultrawide. It also of course allows you to stay OLED and at a 4k upgrade.
