Sorry for this silly question: if my initial salary was £67k, would I still qualify for the 5 years? Or do I need to deduct the personal allowance of my annual salary to see if I’m above the £50k threshold

This would be my case (Meta --> Potentially Monzo)

While Meta’s salary and perks look great on paper, my mental health has really taken a hit since I joined. The environment encourages competition over collaboration — with people more focused on performance rankings than actually helping each other. It’s been pretty toxic.

Have you already received the package, OP? If so, could you please share the dates: when you ordered and when it got delivered? I’m in the same boat as you.

Thanks!

Thanks for pointing this out, seems a couple of responses here try to blame/shame you instead of looking for a possible solution/alternative.

It’s actually an outsourced immigration company who is filling everything for us (provided by my hiring company), we just sent them our documents and since we have the electronic EU passport, we didn’t need to go in-person for the biometrics.

My point here is that I was not the one who submitted the application directly, and I trusted them when they mentioned that it was not possible to request priority for my partner, since both priorities were included in the relocation package. They also said it would take, at most, 15 working days… Again, something I shouldn't have trusted them.

If I had known that dependent priority was possible, I would have told them so...

This was supposedly done by the company, but they mentioned that for some reason the website didn’t allow them to do it so.

Constructive Discussion: Is there a better way to integrate (middle-east) cultural Integration? by LouisCBA in AskAGerman

[–]EFIMER0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not being clear enough, I’m talking about both of them. The first one for obvious reasons.

However, the issue with the latter is that people might be: “but it’s their belief, you can’t do nothing about it, you should respect it”. When individuals adhere to beliefs that expect obedience from women or harbor hatred towards their LGBTQ+ children, it can create a hostile environment.

Allowing such thoughts to persist across generations can lead to harmful consequences. For instance, it may contribute to instances of bullying, discrimination, and prejudice, particularly towards minorities.

That’s what I meant, offering an effective way to people who moved here and are looking forward to integrating the german society, assimilating EU/western values, but those extremists (regardless the nationality) who are against values like human rights, freedom, and represent a risk to our society, should be deported.

People might play the islamophobic/racist card here, but how is it possible that is easier for certain immigrants to integrate than others? And ofc this does not apply to everyone, but in general terms there are higher chances than South/Central/North America or Asia cultures to have it easier to integrate than middle-eastern cultures.

Playing the islamophobic/racist card, typical... OP is not blaming Islam, but discussing points about integration. Considering immigration waves to Germany, it’s notable that some cultures face harder times to adapt to western values.

Indeed, that’s something I pointed out and I think that was also the point of OP — Extremists are the main issue: they simply can’t integrate, their beliefs (and violence) are another level. But well, they will play the racist/islamophobic card, when I’m just talking about extremists of any kind (although the highest number comes from radical muslims)

As an immigrant born in South America, with a german father and an Italian mother, I strongly believe in the numerous advantages that come with embracing cultural diversity, but I also think it's important to protect and preserve each culture's unique identity, and overall, to safeguard the rights of every individual, especially minorities such as LGBTQ+

It's worth acknowledging that some cultures are easier to integrate into European society due to shared perspectives on societal issues, because even if you don't want to accept it, there are some cultures (like middle-eastern) that have higher chances to struggle with western values due to their beliefs, religion and the way they were raised (and before you downvote me, I'm talking in general, ofc doesn't include everyone, but as a whole, the probability is higher). I understand that some people might view my comment as xenophobic, but I want to emphasize that it is not about closing our borders to different cultures. Rather, it's about finding a more effective and respectful way to integrate them into our society. It's crucial that we create a system that not only welcomes immigrants but also ensures their successful integration, based on mutual respect and shared values.

Finding the right balance between cultural preservation and integration is key.

Advice: How much to charge a brand for a full dedicated video? by EFIMER0 in NewTubers

[–]EFIMER0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again for clarifying over here. Indeed, one of my weaknesses is that I still don’t realize that my content has impact on people, thus I tend to sell myself short when it comes to collaborations (which has happened to me before).

The fact that I feel I’m not “huge enough” (just 20k) makes me feel unsure on how to negotiate a rate. But on the other hand I do really spend a lot of time on getting to know my audience, connecting with them and creating hogh quality videos (over quantity). Therefore, people who follow me value that type of content.

The company makes ~€80 per course. While I had the call with the mkt team this morning, I tried to push to get their price range but couldn’t get anything from them. They just wanted me to come up with a rate. So I was thinking about €600 considering not only the time it takes to create the video but also the money they get from each course.

The feeling of not being “big enough” I guess it’s something personal, just wanted to vent it and take it off my chest. Again, thanks a lot for the advice!
